yeah no sweat. Ram is like storage. If you want to keep things like an account name on the eois network, you gotta pay a small fee for that storage. If you want to store game inventory items, that uses ram. Pictures, videos, etc etc.. It's a distributed network, so you're using ram from multiple comuters not your own. We have to spread that cost around, so we determine the price from the market.

i could do 1m tps on a single machine sure. closed testnet doesnt mean anything. also we have seen a lot of accounts come into eos telegram channels trying to shift the conversation to credits which just makes people take the project even less seriously

I would start small. Ledger doesn't allow permission changes yet (change private keys) so until then, I would not be using it for large amounts of eos. I have my account set up like this: I use a alarm bot to notify me of any activity on my account name. @EOSAlarmEBot Owner permission has a private key / Public key (cold storage, paperwallet, safety deposit box buried 6 feet deep) Active permission has a separate keypair (used for everyday activities connecting to dapps etc etc) If my everyday activities (ACTIVE keys) ever get me in trouble and my keys are compromised, I can dig up my owner keys and "change the locks" on my active permission. (https://eostoolkit.io/account/permissions) If you have your tokens STAKED then you have the added security of 3 days (72 hours) to change your keys before a hacker can move your tokens off your account.

Can you use two ledgers, one for active and one for owner?

You certainly could. You could also use one ledger and it's passphrase feature to create two (or more) different keys. Currently there is limited functionality using the ledger however. People may decide to use the ledger for their owner key and non-ledger for their active key. Another approach would be to use ledger active and owner keys (which could be the same key) for their 'savings', and non-ledger for day to day stuff.

Anyone had problems importing their private key to scatter before? I have one account using scatter, and another with greymass. I'm not also trying to register the one I use with greymass with scatter. But as I type in the private key it says 'invalid key' when I type in the character before last. Hey guys, anyone used pwall org for a paper wallet? Any bad reviews?

I'd not heard of it. I just had a look and it's no good for eos because it gives an ethereum private key. What are you wanting to do, generate an eos private key on a device which isn't networked? There are various tools which can do that (as well as validators), or you can use a ledger hardware wallet. Do you want me to suggest some tools?

I've just found out that the bloks.io desktop client supports multiple eos keys on one ledger. It iterates through the derivation path at the address level. This is a great feature. I'm thinking about this. Setting up a cold storage paper wallet is great. But I have a but!😂 But many people aren't aware of security best practices involved with creating a paper wallet. For example some people would just pull out their ethernet cable or turn of WiFi on their all purpose machine, before generating a keypair. This isn't secure. On balance I'd say using a ledger would be a better solution for a wider section of the community. It does a really good job of securing keys for the average user. They just need to make sure the mnemonic phrase is safe against theft/loss/degradation (which actually needs careful thought and is another topic). I assume support for changing permissions with the ledger will come soon. In the meantime it's possible to derive the eos keys from the mnemonic seed, so people can still "change the locks" if their active keys are compromised. What do you(s) think? (I've played with deriving eos keys from a ledger mnemonic and now understand how it works - for future reference in case anyone needs help with it)

Glad that you played with ledger mnemonic seeds. The private keys you get there are not starting with 5. But on importing that private key into a wallet using Cleos.sh it gets stored as a private key starting with 5. Any thought about it? You can pm me with what your findings have been on getting eos private key off ledger for later safekeeping

There are two main aspects - using the correct derivation path with bip32, and using the correct WIF private key. Some software, such as some key validators, are designed to be given the 51 character WIF used by EOS, beginning with a "5". If you input the 52 character WIF beginning with "K" or "L", they'll return an incorrect eos public key. Other software, as you're aware, will handle either Wallet Import Format (WIF) private key. 👍. Brendon also skipped college. I found it a waste of time as I taught myself everything first then took class just to get degree employers look for. As an interviewer I know degrees are meaningless and high gpa means you can tolerate the ridged and pointless processes.

I think it's related to personal potential. University worked for me because I know I'm not a genius and I'm certainly no successful entrepreneur either but the qualifications that I gained through University enabled me to progress my career in a direction that I wouldn't have been able to go in without those qualifications. Further education doesn't work for everyone, Brendan is a good example of that, but it did work well for me.

Guys, i urgently need an advise. I normally registered my EOS (with MeW) and wrote down my public and private key. Also checked EOS Authority to make sure my EOS were registered under the Ethereum address. Now i wanted to open a wallet on SimplEOS is says wrong private key. Thank you. That was informative. The./Cleos.h clip in eosio software also accepts the 52 char WIF key but converts and stores it as a 51 char eos key in its wallet file. Another question I have if, can multiple 52 char WIF keys map to same 51 char eos key.. I found another post in Reddit where two different 52 char WIf keys have same eos public address when checked with eos voter.

I actually find EOS less complicated then most major blockchain platforms. It will get complicated for power users but for the average user it is simple. There are a lot of great wallets for desktop and mobile. Most integrate with scatter so getting up and running is easy. EOS Lynx wallet will have you up and gambling on the EOS bet dapp in about 3 minutes 🙂

Do you mean that your ethereum address which held your eos tokens wasn't registered? If so it doesn't matter so long as the address had made an outgoing transaction of any sort before the snapshot. You would be able to use fallback...

What does 'changed my ETH' mean? Did you have eos erc-20 tokens? If you held them yourself (i.e. not on an exchange), then you already have a genesis eos account. Otherwise you'll need to create an eos account.

I've a confession to make. I did not hangout with the teams of BPs from China. After the events Or at their Airbnb place or at somewhere else. I feel bad and sad for not engaging. I can make excuses by saying - oh! We are a small team or didn't have enough team members on ground. But that's irrelevant. One thing you need to understand is that the majority of the republican party (so when you say bipartisan against crypto) is still the elite government. I think hard forking is inevitable and actually necessary to provoke the incentive model. If this certain Chinese bp stuff is accurate then this will be a real test. Can’t have BPs behaving like this.... if nothing happens (voted out decisively, shut out of community and arb case raised against all BPs/whales involved) then a fork minus all of them is inevitable.

Same thing will happen on a new fork.
