Thanks. Looking for something to enable a user to verify themselves as registered to vote so that the data they produce in app is actually meaningful. The registration data is used to display the correct options with which the user can interact.

I just need to ping a database, maybe a gov db? to verify current voter status. I want to roll out limited functionally for a fun presidential poll of some sort for anyone registered in the US, but I really want to roll out locally in the Denver/Boulder area. Maybe the 6 Denver Metro counties (including Denver County itself) + Boulder County. Possibly some other localities too.

Is there even a way to ping government voter databases directly? Where would I even go? I've looked and haven't found anything obvious. I imagine there is more than one. Does every state and city have their own voter DB too? Would the federal one have enough data for my needs? I don't even need to know or store the data. I just need to ping it. Gov DBs probably have shitty limits though :/

Absolutely! But like the transistor, the early versions didn't enable the applications of electronics we see today, and miniaturisation + other advances were required. Still, it got there in the end and the rate of change is much faster today

B1 did not want to believe that whales would whale - the belief in the benevolent whale is right up there with the Easter Bunny. B1 released an infant blockchain into the world with no means to protect itself from the greedy fucks that have most of the wealth/tokens/stake. Humans will always choose personal gain over community good, every time, even if their actions end up destroying the community from which they are benefitting. Now we have a rapidly entrenching cartel, lead by the self-voting exchanges, that is going to extract as much value as possible before moving on to the next chain. Whales are by nature parasitic - they must take more than they give, and the largest whales are the best at taking the most while giving the least. These are not people you want running your blockchain.

A balanced system is technically impossible, yet people want to drain from eos because they can, probably citing that it is technically possible therefore in eos interest to teach eos the hard way. I'd say fuck it. We know it is an infant chain without hard coded balance, or tech ability to accomplish what was sought. The community can say no sybil bps, not have a tech solution to prevent 100% but could easily state that the community will burn all tokens in connection with the attempt. Just part of a way that a community could launch a platform without others crying that it is unfair.

I think fud should be more associated with fake news. Not bad news. The attorney general of new york is the one directly stating that bitfinex misappropriated 800 million dollars. That's bad. Beyond bad. And exactly what detractors had been saying about tether all along. This could have incredibly negative repercussions on the space if fate doesn't swing in our favor. I thought about this, I think sidechains only really requires token transfers and accounts to be the same. It's like a company running in different countries, users/customers simply need to maintain 1 identity.
