👆👆 Hi guys. Is this still in force in the constitution? I thought that after the intense discussion over this termination and confiscation of assets, this article was dropped.

I'm pretty sure it is still in effect. The word was that there were other matters more important to address because there was three years before it would be an issue. Personally, i liked the idea, people just need to spend five extra minutes setting up their account, like permissions instead of ecaf, and eos community would utilize resources far more efficiently. I like it, but much disscussion is needed and tools. Plenty of time for that,, it is not to steal money.

u use your private key to sign the transaction (its hash). Node then verifies if it is a valid signature and sends it forward

Referendum has never held the power to enact change. Its a useful polling tool to signal the 15/21+ who does. EUA defines what is currently available and enforceable. It will also be great to see how it is built upon from this point.

15% participation was for chain validation and launch. Referendum has always been a polling tool in terms of use case to signal the BP's on what the community would like to see. Tokens holder votes are the ultimate auth. 15/21+ has always had the auth to make the changes. No other authority has that permission.

He’s correct guys. The referendum was purely meant to be followed by the BPs once the 15% was reached. Ok I get it, thanks. So not to spread FUD or anything but in theory BPs could decide to reverse transactions and the only recourse would be for token holders to vote them out, correct? Presumably, responsible BPs might defer to a referendum voting tool to gauge community support before doing something that might be against the spirit of EOS. I haven't read the new user agreement yet so forgive me if this issue is covered in that doc.

No need to reach entire ecosystem, only 15% of tokens were needed. Top 20 accounts own ~49% of tokens. Even if you exclude exchanges (why would you?) it is still less than 100 whales controlling more than enough tokens. Now what efforts were actually taken? No BPs cared to elaborate on that. The only visible public efforts were a couple of social media posts inside of an echo chamber.

It's not possible to see all the channels that things might be going through and languages that represent them. The problem with voting isn't exactly a hidden one. I think that EUA might be the best option for the main net, considering that the most token holders are speculators that don’t understand the need for and are uninterested in formal governance. However the way interim constitution was first somewhat socially imposed by most of the genesis BPs, and than pissed on by the same BPs is a shame.

It's possible it's the best, or the worst. Time will tell :) I think for the latter point though, sometimes you just have to aknowledge you fucked up (even if not publicly) and move on. I feel like that was what happened there. I haven't had the mindshare to be able to watch the inner workings of it all but the general gist I got was that they realized that progress simply wouldn't be made with the current standing of things and that the const. didn't fit into the structure of what the chain has become. I was just thinking it would be really nice if SimplEOS or Greymass wallet would warn you before you spend RAM on a token tranfer.... AFAIK neither gives ANY indication how much RAM you are about to spend, or even THAT you are about to spend it.

See if I can get this right... When sending a token to an account which had none you'll use RAM. If the account you sent to subsequently alters their balance of that token they'll use their RAM and yours will be returned. You're taking about airdrops, so you should consider yourself the owner of the second account in the above scenario. Did I get that right?

Yeah, looking at the TXID on bloks - under the "RAM Deltas" tab - it says 242 bytes "released" by the account which made the airdrop, and then 482 Bytes "consumed" by my account (to transfer them to a new account). So I guess by making a transfer, my account takes over the cost from the airdropper (and frees their ram), and then I also eat the cost of the tokens held in the new account - presumably until that person sends them to somebody else.

I just wonder if the two can be 'separated' so to speak, so that sending a balance to somebody new doesn't cost different amounts of RAM for different token contracts. The "balance" line in your aforementioned "spreadsheet" should be standardized to cost X amount of RAM, no matter what other variables the contract allows you to store in memory.

Thanks for the feedback. The assert function you mention seems like a useful 'failsafe' for interacting with 'untrusted' contracts... but my concern is specifically with the Greymass and SimplEOS GUI wallets failing to warn users before spending their RAM on what appears (to the lay user) to be a simple transfer operation.

What's your ethereum address? Did you register the public key which you generated? And when did you register it? The snapshot was at the beginning of June and if you didn't do it before that you need your ethereum private key instead of your eos private key.

It’s the way that has been previously accepted. The location or “where” it should go has never been a focus above “how” it should get there, which is by 15/21. 15/21 is the authority by which the blockchain is updated.

he is referring to speed at which LIB advances....Bitshares currently has 23 witnesses each rotating every 3s, EOS has 21 BPs rotating every 6s....so LIB advances slightly faster (until BFT that is)

You somehow seem to think that it's super easy to shutdown the bps... It's not ... If EOS reaches say 1 trillion mcap ( that's when govt takes this very seriously ) we are talking about 10 billion for 21 bps per year in income.. this is lot of money for them to buy lot of political favour in their respective jurisdictions ... There are 100s of countries who Gdp is in billions drop them few millions in campaign donations and they will all support EOS... Along with this let's say EOS has billion users then it will be impossible to even touch us politically as well ... So don't worry too much

They don't have to agree. Technology simply allows it to happen, whether they want it to or not. Same goes for anything in the world. We can efficiently trade ownership of our cows on EOSIO if we want :)
