tokenized incentives make sense. steemit was novel. it also got wrecked by sockpuppets. influential accounts would upvote influencers/semi-influencers who wrote introductory posts blogging about their lives and smelling their own farts. this was so they'd shill steemit to other important and semi-important people. smart business model i guess. just not impartial or ethical.

Dan, what do you think of this idea: 1. 21 BPs set up a network, brand it whatever.. it's *their* network. 2. no voting, just them deciding their own rules, a manifesto of their choosing or whatever.. and the capacity to replace BP when 15/21 decide so 3. they setup IBC to constantly sync accounts from EOS mainnet (auth updates included); impossible to create new accounts on that net otherwise Becomes obvious you're using those folks' network, no vote buying, nooothing unexpected, no other factor come in.

In a deflationary model you don't have the upvote circlejerk generating token from thin air problem. Upvotes lead to higher content visibility and $$ for content creator. Token then can be converted into $$ on external market (4) (3) People get paid tokens for viewing paid content. Token from 1 goes to this. They then must spend the token within certain period of time else it'll be burned. They can spend token in either (1) and (2) (4) people buy/sell token from free market

Not exactly bud. That was made by a dev before launch and was a very important tool for the ecosystem since day 1. Then that Dev started working with the block producer after the fact. I agree that BP's should add value and I agree that the cost to create an account is pretty high. I'll have a chat and see if that cost can come down now that ram much better priced.

I’m thinking that the big media are already owned by the rich and people hear to them and believe in anything and pay for that so with this auction these media would probably remain to speak anyway but at least there would be redistribution of proceeds. But now we have the problem of distribution because if it will get distributed in base of auction contribution then we have solved nothing but enforcing the voice of the rich and effectively silencing the poor. If the distribution is made to anyone with unique ID then it may be too broad and people will get nothing for their silence and it will be more like bribing. If the distribution will be only to those who participated then it would be better but it shouldn’t be in base of their token contribution.
