We need more voter engagement but most of the tokens are just sitting out there, untouched. As a community, if we better understood what causes people to decide to engage, maybe we could craft content to help encourage this to happen more often. Hopefully you’re safely engaged with your stake now and are participating in voting. There are some great proxies out there as well which you may want to consider.

At least for me, I am not techie and it is unknown if it is safe to touch the Genesis account. The legit Block Producers are located in Western World and hardly there is a meetup in Eastern world. There is no incentive to do so. Hope when REX comes out, it fulfills the rental income as heard from the Awakenment.

Best to ask yourself, why do these groups bps support and then remove themselves? Money if they are getting what they require they have little issue with any of it. I think it mostly depends on the use case that the blockchain in question is trying to accomplish, for most things I believe that the EOS mainchain is the best option for Developers, but there are other use cases that may require more privacy, or know your customer regulations, that are or not a very good idea on the EOS mainchain, so it's good to have those on sister-chain instead. This is just my opinion though, thank you very much for the question.

We are at EOS ;) Contrite, apologies. Community money pots don't work. We funded B1 to handle main net development, marketing, product development launches etc. The $4bn donated was like a wp fund going to what we thought would be a loving parent ready to take EOS from infancy through adulthood. Once mature EOS would outgrow B1 and be self-sustaining via bps, major dapp developers etc. So far the $4bn and B1 is not working out as planned, which is why the community is feeling anxious about grassroots. But decentralized grassroots + community money pots have an awful track record. We just have to hope B1 comes through

You give your personal identity information to them and they give it to a third party compliance company to review - 2 parties now have your identity information. At least for me, I am not techie and it is unknown if it is safe to touch the Genesis account. The legit Block Producers are located in Western World and hardly there is a meetup in Eastern world. There is no incentive to do so. Hope when REX comes out, it fulfills the rental income as heard from the Awakenment.

Thanks for your feedback. The incentive to do so is securing a network which secures your investment. It's like changing the oil in your car. No one pays you to do it, but if you don't do it, you're going to have a Really Bad Time eventually. Voting for block producers who are technically excellent is really important part of owning EOS tokens.

Has any of the referendum proposals passed (eg. REX)? I think we need to fix the way it works. I agree that 15% participation is a good way to ensure fairness, but maybe put a time limit to how long the poll is open for and at the end of time limit pass or reject. If 15% turnout happens before time limit then pass or reject proposal. There are many proposal that will never get the 15% turn out.

This is a really great initiative. I have often wondered how first-rate BPs can effectively and fairly "vote-ise" their work. I think it is important in the constant push to move forward and evolve. This initiative not only is another piece of the puzzle in effectively and fairly rewarding BP effort put into the network, but also against free-riding BPs parasiting the the efforts of good BPs.

just think that owner has higher authority. it controls active key and what it controls. active key controls your eos balance. if your active key is compromised, you can use owner key to change active key.

and these types of keys aren't only limited to active and owner. dapps can make their own for its users as well. say a social media key. this is where the importance of hierarchy comes in. for example: if your social media key gets compromised, without this hierarcy of keys, you will lose everything from your account itself, your dapp tokens, your eos mainnet tokens, and equally important - your reputation. with this hierarchy of keys, you may only lose your dapp tokens and not your eos mainnet tokens. additionally, you can change your social media keys using your owner key or active key if social media keys are under those two. then you can take your reputation and social media account back. you may have lost your dapp tokens if the hacker was fast enough to transfer them, but at least the rest are safe. you get the point here?

EOS needs to be a dapp on ones mobile device where we can enter the dapp (wallet features included) and the user is presented with a SHIT TON of quality dapps. Moreover, this needs to be done seamlessly. Hopefully, I have just described what the B1 wallet, Scatter and other wallets intend to evolve to. Anyways the key is simplicity where ones brain juice is seldomly used!

Did EOS inception accounts get free RAM?

EOS genesis accounts were all gifted free RAM to be created at launch. The reason this was done was because, given the way the RAM market is prone to fluctuate, the one-sided demand pressure may have priced out users from getting enough RAM at launch if they were forced to pay for it out of their own pockets (i.e. the cost of RAM for the last account created would have far outweighed the cost of the first account). A predictive algorithm was used by one of the BP candidates to calculate exactly how much the RAM market would charge for the exact amount of RAM for the 160+ thousand accounts, extra EOS tokens were issued to cover this cost, and the accounts were created without issue. All tokens issued above the snapshot amount were immediately removed from the supply.

It'd be good to have a phone app which does messaging, perhaps using the Signal protocol, as well as carrying out wallet functions (although this may be a security issue having both functions?). It could be used to send money to friends - eos or stable coins linked to a fiat currency. If your friend has no eos account you can click a button which sends them a message. They get a message pop up asking them to choose an account name which can be submitted when it goes green, indicating it's available. Behind the scenes their app creates, and backs up a key pair, and you'll get an automatic message back from your friend which shows you their chosen account name, storing it to contacts (behind the scenes your phone also receives the public key which their phone generated). You can then click to send them money and simultaneously pay a little to create their new eos account for them. (Unless the B1 wallet offers free accounts to users). I was talking to someone the other day who was new to cryptocurrency. They couldn't understand having no middlemen. I thought about getting them to install a wallet on their phone and sending them some bitcoin. Then I thought bitcoin's so slow, I should send eos. Then I thought, "oh crap, they don't have an account".

Maybe a service for auditors of contracts to give blessing on a dapp. The user could use several auditors and require min blessing on # of auditors prior to allowing the wallet from interacting w/ a dapp ? Kinda defeats the whole purpose. RIDL is extremely Sybil resistant and in the future will also penalize "rep for sale", which goes against that whole "rep for sale" philosophy. There is no way to prevent the "committee" from taking money under the table for whitelisting since it's not public.

It's not really a __policing__ system, but more a __warning__ system. Policing innevitably leads to market competitions as dapps repute eachother negatively just to remove their competitors from the scene. Not a good look.

EOS model is the shining star It has POS which let's million tps but doesn't let coin holders get rich... Only bps get paid for which they have to do work.. Holders earn income through rex but they too have make the platform attractive to devs ... Entirely possible. Rami and I talked about that at length the other day. Wouldn't be right on chain, but would be in the caching layer we provide which does data analysis. It would also offer a stack of data about creators of contracts and stuff.

That's not entirely true. The system itself is resistant. If they want to put down $1b to manipulate RIDL scores, then by all means. Then the community at large will correct their bad scores overnight without any monetary loss. That's the whole point.

The more you use RIDL, the higher reputation you get, and the more you can affect scores. 1000 users with high reputation can completely obliterate 1000 fake users with low reputation.
