It needs to be ambitious because EOS needs to have a significant proportion in order to make big decisions. This means EOS can claim they are truly a more decentralised chain and are led by their community. This is purely reputational. We appear to be in a deadlock. Though I would argue if we have enough of individual accounts voting it would be fair enough for the big whale voters to come in and push the pendulum closer to 15%. Kudos to EOS and B1on being ambitious re the 15%. Btw, great vid.

I agree. If eos matures as we hope it will, and people keep building stuff upon the foundations which have been laid, and the stuff is widely used. The transition from speculators, and bodies who aren't fully engaged with the ecosystem being the token holders, to businesses, dapps, and end users holding tokens would be significant. When the network is being fully used for the purposes for which it's designed there will be plenty of staked tokens, and they will be voting.

I am hopeful that we will achieve in excess of 15% voter engagement at some point. 3. There is no sign of them doing that. As an alternative, if the 15/21 BPs enact a referendum decision based on a 99% to 1% Yes/No vote on a 20 million token holder turnout and a whale disgreed with such an implementation then. a) Maybe they should think about voting next time. or b) They could withdraw their votes from the BPs who pushed through the proposal they don’t like.

Thanks. Point 3 sounds like a mine field of challenges though good food for thought. Speaking of food for thought. One wonders if they thought they would get a true gauge of community interest in attempting to launch REX by means of the referendum. If so it hadn't lured the community and revealed only a small percent of token holders actually care and that's because a few holders actually own the lons share of eos tokens anyway. Whereas the many only hold a meagre portion... Quite sad really. What it confirms to me is that crypto enthusiasts wax massively about blockchain revolutions and the supposed 'good ethics' of decentralisation but really the actions infer that people are only concerned about g a i n s. One wonders if they thought they would get a true gauge of community interest in attempting to launch REX by means of referendum. In the eos whitepaper was mentioned the account recovery feature, whereby under certain circumstances it's possible to recovery your account if you lose control to a malicious third party. You can have an account recovery partner, or rely on an owner key which has been used for your account within the last 30(?) days. If I recall correctly that is. Why can this feature not be utilised for some of these fake Telos website scams? Does anyone know? Is it not implemented in the code base, or is it simply not a function implemented yet in most people's GUI wallets? Or have I got the details wrong?

I think the dice games can afford to have a 3rd party do it. I do not think they are rigged, in any more way than their house edge allows them to be. I don't see you throwing anyone else under the bus here besides cypherglass. Cypherglass is a great block producer and I'm pretty sure they don't deserve to be treated any differently based on what EOS based dapps they support. EOS is a big big place, and there's a LOT of different groups that support multiple DICE games, so even if one or all of them turn out to be "rigged" then it shouldn't fall on anyone who is supportive of that. There's no evidence to support the "rigged" claim and even if there was, Cypherglass didn't write the code, so why should they get put on blast for being supportive of the largest and most used dapp in the history of the universe? Nothing wrong with supporting dapps that you believe in. 👍

I just went to the CUSD website. https://fiat.carbon.money Interesting that they have released CUSD on Ethereum and EOS. If one transfers 1 Ethereum CUSD 10 times from wallet to wallet, it will just disappear. Whereas if one transfers 1 EOS CUSD 1000 times wallet to wallet, it will still be equivalent to 1 USD.

I think this is actually the opposite of the truth. I'm fairly certain the great majority of serious dapp projects are being built on top of eth. As far as daily users eth is a graveyard. But so far as developer teams, capital deployment, and interest from the broader world ethereum still dwarfs eos.

I'm sure there is a lot of teams on eos that haven't come out publicly yet. But so far we don't have much of anything that's actively deployed that's useful, thoughtful, or well built aside from scatter. We know that block.one is working hard, we know that mythical games and dgoods have promise. But otherwise it's a sea of trash with very few projects announced that are worthy of attention. Karma, IQ, hirevibes... these are big name projects with us here, and to be blunt, not very good. Ethereum has huge support from teams at Microsoft, IBM, JPMorgan etc, etc. The serious players in the smart contract space that are looking to build, or are actively building are doing so on Ethereum for now. I'm not trying to be down on EOS here, or hype Ethereum. Just trying to be realistic. EOS had potential to capture A huge share of these developers. We just aren't publicly seeing much evidence of that happening quite yet.

Ethereum needs till at least 2020 before POS is even out.. that is far too long. It is not just EOS, but Cardano will certainly take over a hug chunk of their market share by them. Ethereum will of course continue to develop. But in terms of price, ETH’s market cap is expected to be drained and suppressed due to their slow progress.

I think it depends on the type of adoption. There is still a strong feeling amongst a majority in the field that eth offers stronger protection against mutability. Most experts will advice big money projects with sensitive data to lean towards eth first. For speed eos is much better positioned to dominate though.

Ethereum may have the support of Microsoft and a few other big hitting companies but with this supposed 'added support' the fact remains it cannot scale and you are required to pay gas. Also it will be a very long time before they evolve to POS. Personally having all that support sounds like pure wind to me. Fact; relative to the other shit chains, EOS can scale. There is no need for gas costs. New dapps are been built and the ones running are getting better. Progress appears slow but if you check monthly you can see The clear strides EOS is taking. ✌

Value can lie in immutability, consensus, verification, transparency etc cetera. Decentralisation needn't be the element where value is found within blockchain technology.

Even if a certain amount of decentralisation is required to achieve these things, you could say that it's the means to an end, and the value lies in the characteristics which are obtained, rather than the method used to obtain them.

EOS has 18months to build a massive userbase before Ethereum 2.0 rolls out in some form. I dunno how much value a system susceptible to cartels can capture. If a social media app takes off on EOS then I can see it being valuable because of open siloed user data but bunch of gaming/gambling apps doesn’t add much value to ecosystem.
