The initial idea was to limit it to cofee stores, but let the market decide, so any kind of enterprise could apply for.. Depends on the values it returns to the community/tokenholders...

ethereum is trying to find a middleground between dpos style and fully decentralized with these shards that are still as secure as possible and widespread across many nodes while propagating changes quickly through the network (tps) and getting quick finality. doing this is really complicated and just takes lots of time. dont underestimate ethereum. both approaches might be good in the future for different things. might also fail of course. just dont underestimate them, they have lots of smart guys there.

they have tons of nodes, just a lot of shared across major pools, but in theory if things go wrong people could move away from those pools and form different new ones. reporting how decentralized something is is just really complicated to measure.

this is where the devil will be in the details. from their side they spent a lot of time into the eth 2.0 sharding spec that is apparently now planned to commit to. you can be sure that they studied both proof of work and dpos and had good reasons to go their route. time will tell. but for the medium term all of these 3 will continue to be useful. but sure we can all agree that eos is taking off right now with convenience for both developers and users, free transactions are just amazing and the killer feature that got me into eos.

It is perfectly fine to use personal data for business purposes. It's the essence of the legislation. Users opt in to having their data available for businesses to use to transact and then once complete that data needs to be purged.

With respect to eosio software, the way I see it is as follows. A side-chain would be one which uses inter-blockchain communication, along with the same core eos token as is on the main eos blockchain. A sister chain is a separate blockchain, using eosio software, and a separate core token. Is that where you were coming from @shadowyogi ?

Take for instance an entire game that runs logic on another chain and only pushes finalized state to mainnet so that other contracts on Mainnet can benefit from that data. It's also obvious that certain projects might want to run on a different (linked) chain for various reasons, but I'm unaware of any 'waiting in the wings' who intend to do this. Eos and Ethereum are different animals. They have different niches. Eos can scale in an unlimited way in so far as it can use inter-blockchain communication. But even if you were to assume Ethereum can scale in a meaningful way, Eos can do things many things which Ethereum can't. Just as one glaring example, think through the implications of having fee-less transactions. This opens up a huge range of opportunities for dapp developers, businesses and end-users, which are not feasible on a blockchain with transaction fees. How many business models become impossible when every transaction made with a dapp has a fee (and possibly creates a taxable event)? It would be a nightmare to afford, plan for, program for. It's certainly not something end users want to be involved with, especially when you consider all the possible applications where they should not be conscious of using a blockchain. That's just the one aspect of traction fees, and I've not gone into depth on even that. There are loads of other features built into eosio software which have large consequences when comparing it with Ethereum, too.

what are the differences between rex and chintai?

Chintai is a dapp that essentially does what REX will do, borrowing and lending EOS. From my understanding the only significant difference would be rates and whether you choose your own proxy or use Chintai's.

Good point. Tracking by GitHub committs never made any sense. It's a fine indicator for measuring release activity and determining if a project is completely dead or stagnant but has nothing to do with the usefulness of the work provided. It's especially true now that some devs just run crons which make sure to periodically committ useless comments to keep their profile/project looking active.

yes ledger is safe. no one can get your private key that way. the only attack vector left pretty much is if you have the same owner and active key and you accidentally sign a transaction that changes both your owner and active key on your account (making your old ledger keys useless), that is what the telos phishing scam did. so make sure even with ledger that you are using two different keys from ledger, and only ever import your active key into a wallet like scatter.

Generally I guess you would go to the exchange's deposit page, select eos, and get the deposit details. This would most likely be a 12 character eos account name and a memo. So you'd send from your wallet to the eos account name, and make sure you include the memo with the transaction.

My expectations is that crypto games that are actual games like this are just going to be expensive to play. I dont know what the min specs will be but I will fully expect that the game is going to be very expensive to play.

Think about it, let’s say EOS will survive for the next decades, people will die, loose their keys, at some point maybe the majority of EOS isn’t accessible anymore, what a waste of resources, it slows the network unnecessarily down, and think about votes, what if you need a 15% voting threshold but more than 85% of EOS already got lost?
