Speaking as a bootstrapped BP, we don't always know what the token holders want, where they would like to see the network go, or their stance on pivotal issues. Proxies can just tell us. Some like Colin Crypto, IWAD, have YouTube channels where they tell token holders what they'd like to see, and explain nuanced issues to the average Joe. I return, their viewers delegate their vote to them, giving them a strong voice. Proxies are awesome for the health of the network.

From what I can gather, from this chat. Is that voting is a protest action, so if there's no voting from most users/stake holders and even Block One then there can't be much to protest about. So BPs having close relationships with proxies and each other is just a natural self interest for them and not something most users or stake holders would even be concerned about.

One concievable future is one where enough bps are earning enough rewards as bps on sidechains, from their own dapps and from services to other dapps that they realise the need to safeguard the mainet from all possible eventualities, including cabalisation, vote buying and sock puppetry. How they do this is to lauch an effort to reduce all inflation, including block rewards to 0. This campaign, done in the right way should have no problem getting massive support from token holders. BPs existing only to skim off rewards should drop off like fleas from a animal being de flea-ed.

The writer of the article is a tendermint supporter so expect some bias. He is making a few valid points. We can improve on securing the network by penalizing BP's for bad behaviour and rewarding voter participation more. I believe we need to use inflation to reward voters. Yes the money supply will expand but the network will be more secure as more people will vote

I am def interested in cosmos (could we plumb a cosmos layer on top of Eos? Just to interoperate with that network?). And I agree we can improve dpos. I think that dpos is fundamentally the proper basis for consensus but there is room to experiment with for sure, as they are. But objectivity pls

one whale can create own proxy and vote for his own BP. It promotes BPs centralization. If it will become a common practise as I assume it will as soon as the fees will be added then it will reward bad behaviour instead of improving the voting. Creating a proxy wich votes for sock puppets is bad in the same way.

In the early days I was leaning towards some sort of WPS and funding for ECAF if it was to be, but evolution has lead us to no regproducer, some questionable Bps and trends. What bps are earning anything as bps over and above block rewards? EOS Canada, I believe, EOS NY, I'm sure there are others. Some bps haven't recieved any block rewards at all to date, but are putting a huge amount of work in to this project, so we can assume they would stay.... They whole ecosystem is not ready for 0 percent yet.

Yes, there are so many possibities, both past and future. There is also the chance EOS could be overall deflationary but sitll have the 1 percent going to bps... So much to consider in a space moving so quickly.

Hardware wallets is going to be a competitive market. The Global Blockchain Expo in London had more hardware wallet booths than anything else. I think it’s a good strategy to be concentrating on a EOS-first hardware wallet 👍🏼

I never saw this text when I was using bloks.io — Sorry if I missed it. The more important question is: Does bloks-io allow you to select a proxy of your own choosing? Or does it only give you one "choice" when performing the transaction? This is how I see it being more ideal: proxy options are displayed to a user and it is easy for the user to select between the one he wants.

Yes, we have anonymous account created by very complicated measure: exchange EOS to XMR and convert it back to EOS, and finally send it to an anonymous account creating service. However it's really a pain.

Will your proxy be actively voting on proposals? Creating informative content or joining forces with someone creating such content that gives a balanced perspective (not just "Go EOS hype")? If so I will promote it. The problem with most big proxies currently is that they selectively inform. I didn't hear any with you tube channels pointing out the flaws in REX, and there are flaws and unknowns. People need ALL the information to make informed decisions, not just the half that supports the content creators interests. I find you to be a fearless, intelligent, articulate, and honest person. Capable of addressing the hard issues and admitting when you are wrong. I don't always agree with your conclusions, but I respect that you did your best to reach them and are always open to reconsider. This is exactly the type of person we need as proxies.

It's a pretty good idea so long as they do a good job of researchiung other candidates that align with their voters interests. There's potential for good and bad in everything. Just have to trust in the development of the DPOS and keep a ghood eye on the voting habits of these BP's. I experienced cases where either of you are correct. I never had chicken pox. never vaccinated for that either and I'm already 20+. but I also get irritating allergies and there's a pharmacy nearby. Unfortunately I don't think it qualifies as a solution to this problem because the fees come from within the system. The additional 1% counter-inflation must come from outside the system as new inflation to work. That is my understanding of Greymass's article anyway.

I think this just set a deadly precedent. If DPOS voting isn't good enough to distribute even a tiny amount of worker proposal rewards, how is it good enough for selecting validators for the chain? I'm all for burning and lowering the inflation, but to toss out the idea completely based on what happened on steemit means that the core method for consensus on the chain is broken.

Of course, which is an issue. But we've also seen resources fixed recently with the introduction of REX and CPU offloading, as well as voter apathy undergoing an expirement with REX as well. I'd love to see an attempt at a solution for worker proposals even if it's just conceptual and theoretical. Burn the tokens, remove the inflation, but progress forwards regardless since the benefit of an actual working WPS isn't negligible.
