Yeah, but those 5 don’t control the power to produce blocks. A good number of our block producers do, unfortunately, control the power to keep producing blocks because they own a significant amount of the tokens to vote themselves in. This is not the case with Bitcoin, which Brendan seems to skirt around every time he comments on Twitter about this issue. Apples to oranges.

There is no way the community will be able to reasonably decide what to do with that inflation. Disagreement will probably just lead to fork. Best to just get rid of it no while people are not accustomed to it. This also forces the phony BPs to work for an increase in token price to make money, aligning interests with the token holders.

Yep, the whole framing of the conversation needs to be thoroughly scrapped. Probably need to create a list of words not allowed to be used in the conversation, if eos wants to break from baseless ideological driven perspectives. Unfortunately, we may be screwed...not sure we will ever be able to get rid of some of the BPs. Just goes to show how many different angles there are in this game. Some of these BPs are probably happy to break even at $2.50 (assuming from region of low cost) and be able to sell at $4.50. They could care less about seeing $100 or enterprise business on-boarding.

Thats the issue, a few don't want to compete, so they covered it up in ideological bs to get people to bypass the tools that could actually get eos somewhere.

I feel different than most when it comes to B1. EOS is a community of new and great developers. We got dapps...(some good some not) we got tons of wallets...we got ledger support and my fav transit API. All without B1. All in less than a year.

No. It would need unique identities to safeguard from the abuse of creating account. Or at least centralised authority / steps keeping a check. With no base layer arbitration WPS shouldn't be there.

Maybe that is true for the wps that was designed so far, but it is pretty limitless on what it could be. Aside from wps, there could be many structures that get initial or continual funding, that don't present the same risks but could grow value for eos all the same.

I would be curious to see how much voting power an educated “minority” could yield against these token-propped BPs in the top 21? I wonder if we could reasonably oust them out of the top 21 if we educated ourselves as a collective. I’m genuinely interested if that would be possible, just a little worried that it may actually be impossible based upon current token allocation and tokens being tied up on exchanges, as well.

The real problem I see with removing any voter threshold, is that if voters can't reach 15% to pass a referendum, they will never reach enough to vote out the BP's that vote themselves and each other in. So pretending that is a balance is a joke. Under EUA BP's decide. I don't see them rushing to pass any of the referendum that have 99-100% of 2-3% voters yet. Even though this is exactly the spin on the narrative they used to squeak EUA through.

but if regular token holders see any evidence of bps acting as cartels they will simply sell up and the network will fall like a pack of cards. BPs need to 1.produce blocks 2. suppliment the network. 3. promote their good work. any shady fuckery from bps should be challenged and promoted by the community.

Where is the betrayal? The utility of the eos network gives it value. The dapps launched upon it, its USPs relative to other eos.io chains, the community of devs building for it, the dapps running on it and the size of their user community....

unlike most cryptocurrencies EOS can scale. its transaction speed is second to none in this market. the infastructure between core devs in blockone (eos) and its community are on point in terms of a decentralised ratio meeting today emerging global tech driven society...but this isnt priced in and when the world realises eos will have a market cap in the hundredths of billions.Ergo, its a bargain right now :)

how does this REX work exactly?

You use the EOS in your account (liquid or staked) to put into the REX pool so dApps can leverage the pool for CPU/NET resources. When you do this, you get REX in return which you should stake for security reasons. You gain interests as more devs use the system. I've already begun accuring interest. You have to wait like 4 days before your rex matures before you can get your EOS back...but I don't plan on doing that which is why I use the savings account. I plan on keeping my REX long-term...at least a couple months to see what type of returns I get

Just converted my holdings to REX. Even though I understood the process and double checked the contract details before allowing the transaction, not gonna lie, scared the hell out of me. A balanced system is technically impossible, yet people want to drain from eos because they can, probably citing that it is technically possible therefore in eos interest to teach eos the hard way. I'd say fuck it. We know it is an infant chain without hard coded balance, or tech ability to accomplish what was sought. The community can say no sybil bps, not have a tech solution to prevent 100% but could easily state that the community will burn all tokens in connection with the attempt. Just part of a way that a community could launch a platform without others crying that it is unfair.

The planet we live on is a balanced system, excepting humans which seem to be hardwired to create imbalance. The trick is to create blockchain tech that mimics natural ecosystems

There's an action called "unstaketorex" which moves directly from your CPU and NET staked balances into REX. There is another one which buys rex with your liquid EOS balance. If you use a REX web site / wallet like the EOS Authority one it will manage the actions for you

I’m thinking that if you never physically removed the REX token from the REX system and it was not a tradeable token, it might avoid being a taxable event. Sucks that it had to be created in this manner. I’m hesitant to to trade my EOS token for a REX token for this explicit reason.
