hacker alert: People on telegram are going around sending .exe files claiming they are a wp or something similiar. They may be posing as your friends. you might also recieve it via a discord invite that looks like an audio file download. They took 950 EOS from one of my accounts. The exe virus is a trojan which enabled them access to all of your accounts, telegram and social media. This is the ip of the person who stole my EOS. Do not expect ecaf to save you. Im not proud I fell for something so stupid, but I do want to send out a warning after one of my friends was messaged posing as me to open an exe and I saw the same person doing it in the telos main chat.

The revenue obtained by block one was not to be used for the production of eosio software, which was already funded. You're asking for a thesis; the point in the year long token distribution was to set up a fair way of creating a wide distribution of tokens. ~$4bn was not asked for by block one, but it's what was given by people who wanted to be on the distribution list (and traders etc cetera I suppose).

The distribution mechanism could've burned contributions, would you have preferred that? With contributions being the revenue of block one, the value isn't wasted, and can be used to add more value back into the ecosystem.

When b1 dapp launch comes or a few months after, I'd like it to have a quite long and quality video explaining the token economics and its potential to change the world. also they could compare it to commodities or utilities across the world so really big investors will have no doubt. some gold bulls are doubting bitcoin because it's not like gold which started as a commodity. if they could do it with their hackathon videos, I'm sure they could do it for their apps. but I would also respect it if they don't for business reasons. maybe fb decides to suddenly copy the entire dapps. that would be bad

With Chintai your coins transfer to a smart contract under the control of multisignature by the sponsoring Block Producers, to compromise it, someone would have to comprise all the BPs keys. Gambling profit sharing, you have to buy their token in the first place...so you're already giving up EOS to get their token, then when they're market maker dumps their token back into EOS, you're SOL with the gambling token (that's true for all platforms with gambling dApp profit sharing.

shouldn't referendum have some sort of time mechanism so that if not enough show up to vote by a certain expiry date - the proposals move forward based on the votes they have received? If people don't want to vote - that's on them. Let the users who did vote get their wishes and dictate where the chain goes. I know this is not ideal— but it would prevent a retardation of progress do to apathy...

Agreed. Most people still have no idea how to use scatter or what an owner and active key is. It's complex for noobs even who have been in crypto for awhile. Is there any wonder why the voting turn out is so low? So let the people who have taken the time to learn (those arguable who will also be most dedicated to the advancement of EOS ) to make the early decisions. Other thresholds could be instituted later once there's greater participation.

I read that by being able to vote for more we get the best model for electing the best representatives. It is a game theory principle. Thomas Cox was an architect of this idea. You may to read on John Nash principles. The system has the potential to eradicate two controlling political parties ......which could go a long way to having better elected officials.

Well, if you read about the subject, some of the criticism EOS has been suffering has been around the points of collusion amongst Block Producers resulting in effective centralization of the network. This has a negative effect on price so if you are buying EOS in the hopes that the price goes up, it is in your direct benefit to take a couple of minutes to go and vote for solid, reputable BPs. (Am I a neutral party - no. Please vote for eosicelandbp ) :D

I understand. Thanks Rhaegar. As far as the tech goes, we are running our BP in a private cloud on a pretty massive HP cluster running vmWare within a Tier 3 datacenter. We decided not to publish a detailed diagram of our layout as some have done as this is in most cases a futile exercise where BPs start competing about who has thrown the most resources together in a machine. We are fully compatible with the current top BPs and of course we have the possibility of adding more nodes for load balancing etc if that becomes necessary.

Yes this is true, there are BP candidates out there running machines in public clouds. This is definitely not the security we want or need for EOS. Multiple BPs running nodes in a public cloud that they do not control and is a single point of failure? That's not ideal at all.

there are 2 type of nodes, blockchain node and network node. pow and dpos nodes are blockchain node, elastos carrier nodes is network node. For blockchain nodes, you get reward from your work to produce and signing Elastos block. For network nodes, you just help the peer to peer network grow but no reward, at least for now.

Now in regards to how those ideas are funded: if you take a country of 50 million people (the average European country) and you want to build(and maintain)a road system. How do you go about choosing the best construction company, making sure they're staying within budget, doing the work correctly, setting minimum standards for them to abide by, deciding where the roads need to be built/prioritizing which are more important....this needs a central entity with decision making ability and a budget, nit everything can be left in the hands of the uninformed.

Taxation is theft taken thru coercion and violence. It os wrong. Period. The free market is always more efficient than govt can ever be as well. This "who will pave the roads" meme everyone says makes me wonder where in the social programming is this inserted, everyone says the same line.

Irrelevant we need to get out of this authortarian mindset. Ppl would fund voluntarily what they want to support. Those things would be fraction of what they cost when you have a 3rd party govt involved. Govt also has skewed the cost of things thru their fiat monetary systems so the value amounts are all distorted (against you the person paying). Govt is the thing that distorts everything.

The consensus there amongst the people is anything built by the government(the army) is at a Western standard without delays and works properly.
