if you're thinking about a mobile wallet my advice would be: be very careful. Do not trust your private key to any closed source app that has not been 3rd party security tested and can't be verified from any app store software house. The sharks are swimming.

EOS is a governed blockchain and there are some trade offs they come with that. If you stole someone’s property and a claim is made, there is a process to recover the stolen property. That’s all by design. The process will evolve and get better over time, we are in the early days of the network. Lots to figure out.

It’s up to us to smooth out those points of friction. Custodial account services will emerge that help manage this stuff for people, as well as dApp layer account management. Like I said, we are still in the early days. A lot of that stuff is being built as we speak, or is in the works.

Even that varies according to the individual model of the airdrop. Different airdrops have different criteria. I like ones which only require you to hold eos tokens. I don't mind ones which require you to have tokens staked (only one so far which I know of). I don't mind airgrabs (where you cover the ram). I'm not so keen on ones where you have to give an email address. I'm wary/can't be bothered with/don't want to give my information to ones which require AML/KYC processes (but that could change if, for example block.one have a killer dapp). Some require you to do a transaction of some sort, particularly those involving eos erc-20 tokens.

Are you aware of airgrabs, where you sign a transaction with a contact just to cover the small cost of the ram required to hold a balance of a new token. Then when the distribution of the token occurs it'll show up in your account? You can see a few in the airgrab section of eostoolkit.io

By that standard, isn't any crypto 'wallet' a third party middleman which is code? What's the problem with linking your key to an 'identity' in scatter? It doesn't have to involve giving away any extra information. It could be viewed simply as giving a name to your wallet. Have you tried the desktop version?

Bandwidth could simply be expressed as information carrying capacity. Information on all the actions is stored in the form of logs. A blockchain maintains a log of all the messages and this log is eventually downloaded by the nodes. So when you are upvoting, commenting, editing or following others on a social network like steemit, it gets stored on blockchain as logs.

Dapps who have a vested interest in the chain will have voting influence too since they will be a large shareholder of tokens also. Couple that with Rex the scales won’t be as tilted as people think for BPs. Perception plays a big part in this tribal space. Some issues with EOS have been greatly exaggerated in the media outlets and by other competitors. Eos is in the same boat Ethereum was in when it first came into the space. Bitcoin maximalists called eth a scam and so many other things. If they are not talking about you they don’t fear you are competent competition. Why else do other devs spend so much of their time talking about another project and not theirs.

I have my account set up like this: I use a alarm bot to notify me of any activity on my account name. @EOSAlarmEBot Owner permission has a private key / Public key (cold storage, paperwallet, safety deposit box buried 6 feet deep) Active permission has a separate keypair (used for everyday activities connecting to dapps etc etc) If my everyday activities (ACTIVE keys) ever get me in trouble and my keys are compromised, I can dig up my owner keys and "change the locks" on my active permission. (https://eostoolkit.io/account/permissions) If you have your tokens STAKED then you have the added security of 3 days (72 hours) to change your keys before a hacker can move your tokens off your account.

ledger doesn't support permissions changes yet. I just use scatter desktop. It's been audited and I recommend it to everyone. Then you can use the eostoolkit for everything else and start claiming those airgrabs 😁

The eos account name has 2 permissions set up on it. Owner (can change permissions on owner and active and do everything else) Active (can do everything BUT change owner permission. How do you change permissions? That's simple, you give it a new private key, like changing the locks. Keep your owner key safely offline and just cruise around on your active key. This way if anything happens, you can change the locks on any hackers or thieves. If you keep tokens staked, you have an extra 72 hour time delay to change the locks.

They also build a bunch of hoops and expect people to hop through them? These people know crypto better than anyone, and they've made the voting process so disgustingly difficulty for their users, it's a shock that anyone is even using it. Then there's the guessing game of trusting an exchange to follow through with the votes, without offering any evidence to support the voting choices. If tokens are liquid, on or off the exchange, they shouldn't be voting. Nobody on the eos network can unstake their tokens, and day trade while continuing to vote, so why can the exchanges circumvent this process? It's incentives for whales to remain on exchange and vote anonymously.

scatter is like a keyring. You can add keys / accounts to it. That way you can have multiple accounts and identities on the blockchain for different things, or for different people even. You can load one account on there, or 100 it's your choice. Then when you want to visit a DEX and trade some tokens, it'll ask you which account you want to use to sign in with. It's very very simple. And voting is the same, it'll log in with the account you have tokens staked, and you can start voting, or set up a proxy to vote for you

how does it work?

The system utilizes some of the same technology that the eos-forum.org uses in that transactions are embedded into the EOS blockchain and are indexed by novusphereDB. “staking” nodes who use their resources to interact with the EOS chain and push transactions are used to get from off chain to on chain. ATMOS can be converted to ATMOSD at a 1 to 1 ratio by locking ATMOS in a escrow contract. The ATMOSD since it exists “offchain” will eventually get ring signatures, confidential transactions and stealth addresses. All features that would be very expensive to implement onchain. As this is all open source, any eos token could take advantage of this off chain system. Even EOS itself. The plan is to provide ATMOSD privacy in phases. Starting with basic some basic pseudo anonymous features like bitcoin has and then adding the monero aspects over time. https://novusphere.io/ There is a whitepaper and links to other info.

Agree, but if the token is integrated effectively and integral to the ecosystem it can work just fine. Currently legacy systems like Microsoft, Apple, Samsung havetoken systems.

Well it has its flaws. I was going to sell a material now, dialogue showed not traded yet, I put it on the market for 1 EOS, then canceled and next time the dialogue showed traded for 1 EOS, while the material is actually abundand on the market for 0.001EOS.
