I have my account set up like this: I use a alarm bot to notify me of any activity on my account name. @EOSAlarmEBot Owner permission has a private key / Public key (cold storage, paperwallet, safety deposit box buried 6 feet deep) Active permission has a separate keypair (used for everyday activities connecting to dapps etc etc) If my everyday activities (ACTIVE keys) ever get me in trouble and my keys are compromised, I can dig up my owner keys and "change the locks" on my active permission. (https://eostoolkit.io/account/permissions) If you have your tokens STAKED then you have the added security of 3 days (72 hours) to change your keys before a hacker can move your tokens off your account.

Hi .... Thank you for reaching back to me with the details. I want to clarify that unstaking does not mean your account is hacked. Please allow me to explain what's happening. By default, most of your EOS balance is staked (locked) on the EOS blockchain. Hence, when you first upgrade your Exodus wallet and enable EOS your balance will start to unstake (unlock) automatically so you can transact with it as you wish. Once the balance is unstaked, you can always stake it back using Scatter or any other wallet which allows staking of EOS. There are incentives for people to run nodes which will validate. There will be full nodes and also many nodes running subsets of data, which I expect will overlap. It'll be necessary for certain developers/dapps to do this to watch any contracts and transactions relevant to them. I imagine a broad and diverse ecosystem will be built and the chain(s) will be validated by a multi-layered, overlapping patchwork of nodes with vested interests.

There'll still be a three day wait until they're liquid, unless you're saying that exodus initiated the unstaking a while ago. I'm another who strongly disagrees with their decision to make transactions on the blockchain without the user's explicit consent. I understand their reason, and the fact that people have trouble understanding that their tokens are staked, and how to unstake them. But the decision to do it this way is ludicrous. Aren't they worried about opening themselves up to liabilities?

Question guys, hopefully you can help me out here: If I registered and verified my key pair for the EOS mainnet but now get the EOSAuthority message: Registration was not successful. Your account name on launch was : XYZ. Now I did register my EOS account with my Ledger Nano S ETH address. How do I use any sort of fallback mechanism here? Since there is no Ledger Nano S ETH private key without comprimising it? Any way to do this?

A quick tip... If you get your private key by using a bip39 tool, you'll probably need to remove the "0x" from the beginning before it will import successfully into an eos wallet. There are ways to get your private key from the ledger without any significant risk, but it involves special knowledge and going to great lengths. Most people should consider their ledger mnemonic compromised if they enter it into a device to get their keys. What you could do is to move everything stored 'on' the ledger before deriving your key.

great question. I don't know if that's possible without uniquely identifying each individual account using biometrics. Good thing Dan has been working on this solution so EOS comunities won't have to worry about sybil attacks as much. Still... 60,000 unique accounts active in one day on eos... that's really good ❤️

the referendum contract is being polished up now. A LOT of really smart people have been tirelessly working on this for months. There is a working group, but they like to keep it invite only to keep it clean and focused. If I had to make a bet on when we'll be doing referendum voting, I'd put a little money on November 20th

Ledger is great, but I think Block.one and some BPC's will have more functional hardware wallets for EOS. Ledger needs to cater to other blockchains, so their EOS functionality is way behind the curve for adoption purposes. I hope they can get on the ball with EOS better in the near future though.

@InTheory It is, yes, but I don't know about the use of imtoken. Perhaps they've implemented a tool? I seem to recall you can get your ethereum private key out of imtoken, can't you? Are we talking about ethereum addresses which weren't manually registered, but which were automatically registered by the fallback? Or ones which couldn't be registered using the fallback because there were no outgoing transactions from the wherein address? Either way there's a solution if you have your ethereum key. Put your ethereum address in at eosauthority.com for details.

Since compromised accounts are still a major problem and source of concern, how about eliminating the requirements for BPs to freeze accounts by simply offering protections for only staked tokens? With this solution, the time it takes to unstake accounts will be automatically increased by 72 hours when a complainant meets various criteria that include: 0. Owner receives an alert that a staked account has been unstaked by an unauthorized entity; (1st 72 hours) 1. Providing evidence of access to or control of the private key; (another 72 hours) 2. Providing a biometric information to support the complaint; (another 72 hours) 3. Accepting the terms of identification for any harm resulting from the delays; (another 72 hours) 4. Engaging in and completing a process that will lead to the identification of all claimants; (another 72 hours) 5. When all claimants are identified they may agree on the terms for a bond-backed increase in the time it takes to unstake accounts. Alternatively, bonds for time increments will be determined by the value of the account. An account worth 1000 EOS may have the unstaking period increased consecutively with a continuous deposit of 1 EOS. 10,000 may require10 EOS and 100,000 EOS, 100 EOS. The deposits will only be released to a proxy based on predetermined terms when the dispute is resolved to the satisfaction of x or y forum.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'use'. You can not access your eos account with them yet, unless you registered that public key before June. But you can use them if it's a valid key pair, in the sense that you change your account keys to this pair. But you'd need the correct private key to access your eos account in the first place so that you could change to the ones you generated. I didn't communicate that very clearly, does it make sense?

I heard that exodus wallet has been unstaking people's tokens without consent from users. I assume that's what's happened. You could check the unstaking transaction on the blockchain to see if it gives you a clue as to whether it was your wallet or a bad actor. You mightn't be able to tell definitively though.

Yeah, called mass adoption and usage! We are looking at 50-80 txs per second. The constraint threshold is currently 20%. BPs will start loosening it slowly, just increased from 10 to 20 last week.

But they cannot figure out what transactions have not been run. In other words, a transaction is sent to the two producer and this tx has not been recorded in the previous blocks, so they will both run this tx.

I'm assuming you're talking about unregistered ethereum addresses for which the fallback method isn't applicable. That is, ethereum accounts which had no outgoing transactions of ANY kind before June. Is this your situation? Does simpleos have a tool for these cases? If not, then you don't make a new eos account this way. I don't know what you're watching on YouTube, but I would go here and follow the instructions: https://eosauthority.com/unregistered

So I'd say you can use the keys, but don't create an account with simpleos unless they've implemented a tool for unregistered people. You may use keys from simpleos to create an account by using the "eosio.claim" contract. One way to use this contract to create your account is here: https://eosauthority.com/unregistered I hope this makes sense.

I wonder if they count eth trades against eth based tokens, or only against non eth coins. If they add up all the Erc20 trades then there's no wonder eos trading volume is lower as our tokens mostly trade off exchenges or dex

Yeah so what's the conclusion here, eth Dapp tx volume is lukely more realible accurate due fees but the same can't be said about EOS Dapp volume

There are other wallets which work with a ledger too, such as Fairy Wallet and bloks.io desktop. You can use all of them once you've set up your eos account with ledger keys. It's expected that you'll be able to change account permissions (keys) from a ledger in about a week. There should be a lot more other functionality too, like
