Why not get the best of both world by bringing bitcoin to EOS, trade it, exchange it on EOS and then redeem it back to its original network as settlement. It really takes its value in the original network but a proxy can be used for fast operations on a fast network

Lets say that IOS has a better security reputation than windows. I don’t understand why people in here consider a windows desktop pc more secure, just because scatter is open source? if you use one of the known wallets, malware is a greater danger.

Block.one have over 100 devs full time on it But there are tons more developing for and on eosio Look at dGoods for example. Many devs from many projects collaborated to develop the dGoods standards for nft's and sft's Or liquidapps developing the dApp network for vRam etc. Or the bp's who came together to build chintai... Eos is a truly decentralised community with no central organisational body. It's a free market solution to block chain scaling.

I've checked it and I like that so much is being built. I saw many new accounts. Teams started marketing their products so the growth is visible but when the tipping point of new dapps will be reached it will be like floods :)

Well, it's available on OSX too. The question isn't about the operating system though, it's about the wallet itself. It doesn't matter if your operating system is secure if the wallet is built to steal your keys. Being open source allows people who are more knowledgeable in programming than the average user to vet the code for everyone else, and apply security fixes instead of relying purely on the limited knowledge of a few team members.

I’m not bashing open source here, my point was that the probability of your keys being stolen through malware on windows is greater than using a closed source, but known wallet like meet one or tokenpocket on IOS. Some lost their accounts through malicious wallets in the app store too. But if you read through the chat it is mostly compromised desktops. And when scatter for IOS comes out it will be closed source too, or is there a way to check the binaries against the source without jailbreak?

It will not be closed source. We don't make or believe in closed source wallets. The checking of checksums on mobile indeed isn't as straight forward as desktop applications however and leaves something to be desired. There's plenty of things that can be closed source but a wallet isn't one of them. If a wallet is closed source you can be sure they are hiding __something__ from you and it has nothing to do with security, as security is not obscurity. It could just be patented technologies, but that's not likely the case. Mostly though phishing is the largest factor for blockchain asset loss and is wallet agnostic. There's nothing any wallet alone can do about those types of attacks as they stand alone and don't need wallet intervention. When it comes to things like infected computers there's plenty that can be done to combat that like proper account permissions and hardware devices. That should be the standard on all operating systems as it is just as easy to infect a Mac as it is a windows machine, there are just far more malware softwares for Windows since it has always had a majority user share and was more of a focus for hackers.

It might shock people into being more aware and more careful, when they see how easily things can go bad. I saw a TV documentary where they used actors to see how readily children would leave a playground with a stranger. It was done with the parent's permission, and the children weren't actually taken away. But a shocking percentage of children would go along with it, even though they had been taught about 'stranger danger'. I think it's a strong reinforcer for people to actually experience stuff, rather than just having been told about it.

Hello. I've seen you asking for help in the fairy wallet group too. If I understand, you created an eos account with an active and and an owner key pair. Currently your tokens are in a centralised exchange. You want to control your eos account through a ledger nano s. Is this all correct? You can install scatter desktop client and import your current owner private key. The scatter telegram group is @scatter. You can then change your account keys to be keys from your ledger. Then your eos account will be controlled by your ledger's keys. When you send eos from the exchange to your eos account, remember to send to your eos account name, not to a public key.

$17M, it the valuation of the DAPP token during the last track of the ICO. Track 25 from yesterday. Few participants in the regular and the instant track, only 0.0045 EOS/DAPP. Do you guys think LiquidApps is extremly underpriced ? looks like DAPP is under the radar.

At the moment, probably yes. Dapps wanting to build on mainnet will need a pool of unlimited resources and go straight to the DAPP layer.

Why not have a program continually running that prevents clicking on anything threatening? Clicking a box in telegram would bring up a popup.

I think you've the got wrong idea about staking eos.. Like ML said, staking only allows you bandwidth to use the network. You get CPU and or NET when you stake.. And your cpu and net aren't used unless you yourself use it. Staked EOS has nothing to do with RAM.

Yes, in that you use a ledger nano s. So long as you check the ledger's screen to see what you're signing. For example, it wouldn't succumb to that problem MEW had with non-ledger access where the DNS got 'hacked'.

There's no doubt that putting your private key in any website is very insecure. There is malware which watches your clipboard (and even changes the content from your details to the hacker's details), keystroke loggers, man-in-the-middle attacks, DNS hacks, spoof websites, phishing attacks, general compromised operating system, screen loggers, people watching/recording your screen over your shoulder. Also the genuine website could turn malicious (perhaps if the owner is threatened). A ledger nano s defeats all of these attack vectors, so long as you check what's on its screen.

There's also the issue with storing your private key securely in the first place. It's not easy to do if you intend to paste it into websites. The ledger excels here too, being designed not to give out the private key.

I don't know this for sure, but according to my logic... When you confirm actions with hardware buttons, the action is detected as a result of physically completing a circuit, which cannot be spoofed by a software hack. With a touch screen the feedback of the physical confirmation is handle by the device using software which could potentially be spoofed by a software hack.

The public key of your eos account, is it the same as the one you generated? From what you say, it sounds like it is. But if it's not, it's possible that you didn't register correctly and there's still hope. How did you generate your keys? There was a phishing site... Another possibility is that your keyboard settings are wrong. For example of you've set up a clean Linux system before you ever your private key, it could be set up for US keyboard, when you have a European one. If the wallet you're using didn't show you what you're typing when you put your key in, you wouldn't notice that it's typing different characters.

Don't agree eos account creation is the big barrier ... If you want eos account all it takes is $1 on eos lynx app with your credit card whatever .. right now the big problem why the hell should I create eos account not enough strong incentive for that...

Like on centralized servers, if the game company doesnt make enough money with a game, they have the power to shutdown the game, centralized or decentralized or on the best blockchain. It's a chicken and egg story sir ... Yes devs can give free accounts to their users that's a easy solution ... But the bigger challenge is coming up with strong use cases for eos adoption which right now are not very strong ish.... There is no killer gambling app No killer gaming app All are in dev phase

Thanks I understand. im trying to see what is the big fuss with games on blockchains, it look good on paper, but I doubt that current gamers are going to drop centralized games for games that run on blockchains and smart Contracts. Im not a gamer myself
