I am starting to think that the steem model where the 21st producer is rotated in makes more sense. Then they only get paid per block produced. This will at the very least prove all standby have nodes ready to take over. I would probably rotate less frequently than steem, perhaps once per hour instead of once per round.

Hey guys, I know there are a LOT of really great Block Producers out there, and I wish they could all share in the inflationary payment model of EOS, but unfortunately this is not how the system is designed. This is a political arena and as you may or may not know, GenerEOS (aus1genereos) is so focused on helping everyone else, that they have forgotten to ask for help themselves. There exists a lot of different types of Block Producers in the EOS network. Some are aggressively asking for votes (campaigning) some are accused of paying for votes (vote buying) and some just work their asses off without playing the political game at all. The opinions expressed here are my own here. I'm not speaking as a representative of GenerEOS here. I am just another concerned community member here, same as all of you. I'm asking for your help here. Chintai will be choosing Block Producers to add to their proxy and we could really use those votes. If you have never voted before, please do. If you are voting, but don't know much about GenerEOS, please come check us out and see what all the buzz is about https://t.me/generEOS If you use a proxy, please ask that they include aus1genereos to their list. its not just 1 thing that will help the cpu problem.. BP upgrading their equipment is only a very small piece of it.. there are already some BP with 2-3x better cpu execution time than others.. we've also multithreading, sidechains, REX all in the works.. Telos is faster because they don't have even a fraction of the traffic eos has right now

I've made some modelling with REX price algorithm and noticed something strange. For example you have 100 mln eos in pool and 99 orders 1000 eos each. In total there will be distributed 9 mln eos bandwidth to these orders. So we have 99,000 eos revenue from 9 mln eos bandwidth. This means bandwidth/cpu cost is 1.1% for borrowers. But lenders receive only 0.99 eos per 1000 eos sent to REX or 0.099% so what is the incentive to use REX for lenders instead of Chintai? 🙂

20 actions, which are even less transactions, is nothing on EOS, just rebirth, sell some materials, return pets from expedition and send new ones, craft and you are over that limit in eosknights under one minute. Nothing hardcore about that.

Random idea. It can’t be forced, only voluntary. Chintai proxy, and the like, could use on-chain polling via the voting tools that have been built to gauge their stakers sentiments. They can’t be forced to vote per the poll results but it could have meaningful influence. Also, I think it would be interesting if they wrote X number of words on why they didn’t not vote for Y number of BPs. Maybe 100 words on top 15 from their poll that they didn’t vote for.

you can use greymass or scatter to generate a private key for you and then simply write it down. not aware of a more convenient place that lets you print the private key, but manually typing it would potentially be safer anyways than sending it to a network printer

Just read their "white paper". Met is just a token that was issued on Eth (ERC20). It's only as secure and decenteralized as the network that runs it's contract. This is not much different than creating a token on EOS. This means it's not 100% decenteralized. Also, it's ability to be converted to other blockchains is not much different than EOS Bancor X. You can now even store and use your Bitcoin/Eth on EOS dapps/DEX's.

If funds are stolen from an eos holder, he can present his case & the funds can be reverted back to the owner.

EOS has an owner and active key pairs. The active key is what you should use to interact with dapps etc. The owner key can be used to changed the active key. Hence if the active key gets compromised you could reset it and lock out the hacker. This is so if you have EOS staked.... you would know your account was compromised if hacker unstaked them (as they take 3 days to become liquid and moveable giving you time to secure your account and cancel that unstaking. Thats one big protection in EOS. The second is regarding an arbitration body ya that can get them back.

Chintai is such a huge resource for EOS. I wonder what the CPU issue would be like without it? It also has 15 million EOS votes to give to a proxy, which is very significant. This proxy is also selecting BPs based on what is best for EOS, which hopefully will offset those dirty votes that happen under the sheets.

Yes, it's a real asset in many different ways. Great that it is free for the user, but also as you say, difficult for an entity with lesser voting intentions to compete with something that is free now. Such an important piece of fundamental infastructure.

I checked with B1 back in Jan and they had no plans to build a token leasing exchange of any sort (I have a feeling Dan developed REX conceptually Jun/Jul). I couldn’t understand that as token leasing seemed to be a fundamental component of EOS economics so that’s why we launched the project in February. I wouldn’t have said I expected it to be being used this much in the opening months but very happy it’s adding value.

I think Chintai has really been incredible for the network, especially in keeping it running through these tough CPU times. Development would be 10 times slower now if it weren't for Chintai. These gambling dapps didn't have millions of dollars of EOS to utilise initially. Short-term, maybe the price might be down a few cents thanks to Chintai, but long-term it adds a whole new dimention for EOS, which nothing else out there comes close to.

I think Chintai has led to some interesting network effects relating to CPU that were always going to happen. However it spelled the end of “free cpu” for businesses to use up, and the start of a successful business like DICE being able to lease 7m EOS for its needs and massive growth.

I think the emphasis should be on getting the dapp clients to program opimially ensuring the overall network (CPU etc) is as lean as it can be. Only when DAPP clients get their coding in order / house in order should we then 'power up'. This is the effective and practical course of action.

There’s not a single silver bullet that will cure the CPU issues. It’s more like a recipe. It’s going to take code optimisation from B1 as well as dAPPs, REX and Chintai all of which can be done as we develop side chains. Bake the cake 😊 🎂 Compared to other chains, the speed of development happening on EOS is quite fast. Sure, it’s not fast enough for some, but it’s still happening at a fair turn of pace and B1 have been recruiting more devs.

Should probably add. You need to hire very good Project Managers when working on multi staged solutions. It’s easy to communicate between teams and stick to timelines when team(s) are relatively small and contained in the same building. It gets much much harder when they’re not. I believe if you want to be a dev for B1 then you have to move to Blacksburg which I think is the right approach.

Basically market makers have forced the prices low so they can buy in cheap right in time for ICE BAKKT (NYSE), Fidelity and the NASDAQ products to hit the space in Q1 2019. Every project will start out with whales to some degree. Maybe it could be scripted to first develop the project a great deal, prove to the market/developers it is worthy of attention, then plan to release large swaths during the next downturn in the normal market cycle. I can't zoom in on the minute chart, but it was majestic. Right before that pump. .... I had been waiting for another mega dip, but such a chart would scare the world away from the entire market, and the price is fair. I wasn't here from the beginning of the crowd sale, and I wasn't skilled enough to time the dip to perfection at 1.52. A dip to ".50" would vastly effect how long it would take to reach new ath, and probably create a few that resent buying much higher and held. The only reason it would go any further down is by bitcoin dragging it down on its way towards crashing. I'm not a fan of pow, but I don't think a bitcoin demise would be good at this point in time. I thought bitcoin would bottom at 2800, and it might still do that, but the 1000 that was rumored, would not be good. If eos stayed put while bitcoin dropped to 2800, might be a great way to break from the bitcoin hold, and signal to the market the eos bottom.

EOS didn't even have an ICO, they had a "token distribution" instead. Big difference to the SEC I think.

100% correct. Majority of ICOs had rounds of founding with fixed price/coin SET BY THE DEVELOPERS of the coin or token. That my friend according to stuff I read out of the SEC public hearings is a security. EOS did nothing like that. EOS from the start and what I saw on the web said we are going to sell X amount of coins per round....you guys (the market) determine the price....GENIUS way of doing it. EOS has no control over the price of the coin per round. I think EOS will pass the SEC test.

On a another note; I got to try out the ZKS tokens last night, helped two guys out with CPU and provided them some information at same time.
