Bear in mind. China probably holds the highest proportion of EOS tokens and they are the ones launching the most usable dapps at the moment. I am happy that the top 21 is as just and representative as possible. We all benefit from this.

The gambling now is a test to EOS. It's a good thing. As long as they manage.to fix it. It's a great win.

I usually have a mother account, from there I stake EOS for my other accounts which I use a lot. If I run out.of CPU, I go to the mother-account and stake some.more. this way I can do emergency things...

The EOS network is like real estate. By staking your EOS and voting for good BPs you are allocated CPU based on the volume of tokens you have. The idea is that clients who build dapps on EOS will need resources and they will need to borrow from token holders. Too much to type on the subject. The whole system is like a grand cathedral organ in the process of getting tuned up. I've skimmed the surface for you but please refer to EOS go or check out the many YouTube vids. This place is about to get exciting in the next 6 months

**Please Note!!!** There has been an `increase of scams` lately within the Telegram Community of EOS. A couple to be aware of is when someone from a Block Producer team private messages you, offering to help you with an issue that you've posted about. They will usually switch a letter in their telegram handle to be similar to the real thing (using an uppercase I instead of a lowercase l for example). If you're ever unsure, a couple of things to check is to view how many groups in common you have with that user, and also to go to a place where you are confident that you are speaking with the real person and then click thru their name to view if you have any private messages with that user. Most of these scams will not post within telegram groups, just in private messages. Another one that has been happening is that someone pretending to be part of a Block Producer team will reach out, talking about how they just raised some money thru investments, or are trying to give back to the community, etc... offering you free tokens in exchange for registering with them when you vote for them. They usually are trying to phish your personal information thru this. Another one that is coming up is someone impersonating ECAF (account name `ecafofficial`) by sending messages from `ecafofficiel` and sending you to their website that is similar to ECAFs, but uses a different `n` character in the URL. A last one that is somehow still around is someone asking you to send X EOS and they will send you back 10X EOS, so the more you send, the more you get back. These are `ALL FAKE` and should never be followed. They will send you links to an explorer showing other users who have sent them EOS and received back 10 times the amount, but these are all part of the scam. If anyone EVER asks you for your private key, it's a scam. If you are downloading a new wallet to try out, always triple check that you are on the correct website/github page to grab the original file. If you're ever unsure, reach out to a Block Producer you trust. Trust but verify.

Scatter integrates with web interfaces. You can use any web interface that has scatter and has wallet functionality. There's tens of them. Off the top of my head is bloks.io

I have my account set up like this: I use a alarm bot to notify me of any activity on my account name. @EOSAlarmEBot Owner permission has a private key / Public key (cold storage, paperwallet, safety deposit box buried 6 feet deep) Active permission has a separate keypair (used for everyday activities connecting to dapps etc etc) If my everyday activities (ACTIVE keys) ever get me in trouble and my keys are compromised, I can dig up my owner keys and "change the locks" on my active permission. (https://eostoolkit.io/account/permissions) If you have your tokens STAKED then you have the added security of 3 days (72 hours) to change your keys before a hacker can move your tokens off your account.

You can stake resources to any account on the network, but you can only vote for a registered block producer or delegate a proxy to vote for producers on your behalf. In the future, the large dapps will also be registered block producers, but that is similar to monsanto running for a senate seat, so beware of which dapps we allow to take a seat of power.

Try the whitepaper. "Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS). Under this algorithm, those who hold tokens on a blockchain adopting the EOS.IO software may select block producers through a continuous approval voting system. Anyone may choose to participate in block production and will be given an opportunity to produce blocks, provided they can persuade token holders to vote for them. The EOS.IO software enables blocks to be produced exactly every 0.5 second and exactly one producer is authorized to produce a block at any given point in time. If the block is not produced at the scheduled time, then the block for that time slot is skipped. When one or more blocks are skipped, there is a 0.5 or more second gap in the blockchain. Using the EOS.IO software, blocks are produced in rounds of 126 (6 blocks each, times 21 producers). At the start of each round 21 unique block producers are chosen by preference of votes cast by token holders. The selected producers are scheduled in an order agreed upon by 15 or more producers. If a producer misses a block and has not produced any block within the last 24 hours they are removed from consideration until they notify the blockchain of their intention to start producing blocks again. This ensures the network operates smoothly by minimizing the number of blocks missed by not scheduling producers who are proven to be unreliable. Under normal conditions a DPOS blockchain does not experience any forks because, rather than compete, the block producers cooperate to produce blocks. In the event there is a fork, consensus will automatically switch to the longest chain. "

the white paper doesn't specifically mention the fact that "Eos has a 5% annual inflation. 4% goes to a savings fund, which might distribute the funds to the community later on. 1% goes to Block producers and Standby Block Producers. Out of the 1% that are given to block producers, only 0.25% will go to the actual 21 producers of the blocks. The other 0.75% will be shared amongst all block producers and standby block producers – based on how many votes they receive and with a minimum of 100 EOS/day."

I know 2 key things. You stake your exact allowance percentage wise in cpu. When the network is NOT in contesting mode you are allowed more than your true streaked allocation

After thorough investigation, we would like to release some details regarding the recent attack. The attacker discovered a way to exploit EOS nodes be able to reverse transactions. They used this exploit to place bets and reverse the transaction if they lost. This attack was not due to a vulnerability on the contract level. We have been working closely with various BPs while investigating this attack. They have confirmed there is no security issue within our contract. Our contract is secure and safe. Since this attack was due to the characteristic of eos node, we cannot disclose more details at this time. We are contacting other developers to ensure every dapp is safe. Thanks for the help from EOSCafe, LibertyBlock and BlockOne.

Actually it is critical, because most of gambling games calculating the result(win/loss) inside user's transaction. So hacker can write it's own smart contract that calls game contract function, then checking result, if he lost then performs some invalid action that revert whole transaction...nice hack!

After thorough investigation, we would like to release some details regarding the recent attack. The attacker discovered a way to exploit EOS nodes. So that the transactions not in an irreversible block can be exploited due to time needed to be synced between API node and BP node. They used this exploit to place bets, but asserted the transactions in favour. This attack was not due to a vulnerability on the contract level. We have been working closely with various BPs while investigating this attack. They have confirmed there is no security issue within our contract. Our contract is secure and safe. Since this attack was due to the characteristic of eos node, we cannot disclose more details at this time. Shae: We’d like to provide more details regarding the attack that took place today. The attack started at 17:00 UTC, and we noticed the suspicious activity at 17:45 UTC. At 17:55, we executed an emergency game stop, judged the attack to be a non-contractual issue, and immediately contacted BPs for further investigation, while also contacting other dapps that were under attack to alert them. We submitted our contract to the BPs for review. The conclusion was that our contract is very safe and did not have any loopholes that could be abused. At 21:00 UTC, we reached a conclusion and confirmed the nature of the attack. The attacker discovered a way to exploit EOS nodes. The transactions not in an irreversible block could be exploited due to time needed to sync between the API node and BP node. They used this exploit to place bets, but only asserted the transactions in their favor. In short, they would only submit the transaction to the BP node if it was a winning transaction. This attack was not due to a vulnerability on the contract level. Since the attacker used many accounts, the actual loss is still undetermined, but it is estimated that about 200,000 EOS was lost. Although this loss is not negligible, it does not affect our operation at all. We can easily withstand more than 500,000 EOS losses, which is still only a small part of our funds. Also, since our payout to staked DICE holders is calculated based on the theoretical house edge, this attack did not effect the payout. In regards to the details of the attack method, we do not feel it is best for this to be disclosed. This attack method can be applied to most applications. You can if you want. But if you want to use them in the EOS ecosystem, to buy tokens on NewDex or qualify for future airdrops, you'll need to set up your own EOS account and move them there. EOSLynx is probably the easiest way to set up a new account. It will cost you about a dollar.
