'They have well over 100,000 users they need to bring into chain. Just account creation would cost them over $1m dollars. Because the tokens in your MEW were the EOS erc20 tokens back before mainnet launch. erc20 tokens are ETH blockchain based. Since the launch of the EOS mainnet, those erc20 tokens are now frozen and useless and have now been replaced with the EOS that now exist on th EOS blockchain, which you can see via your SimplEOS wallet.

Account creation does require a purchase, because resources are needed to maintain an EOS account on the blockchain. However, many transactions are fee less.

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be. It would ultimately depend on how the dapp is setup. For example, if I were a user of that dapp and wanted to execute a transaction - something like a message, or liking a comment - would the resource needed to execute that action be supplied by me, or the dapp? If by me, then that's a zero fee transaction that uses up a small amount of renewable RAM from my EOS account. If by the dapp, then sure, I can imagine how that might add up quickly. But EOS was built from the ground up to be a platform for dapps to operate on. I think a lot of people out there are making assumptions and I wouldn't use a random user on reddit as a primary source of verifying that information. Since we're talking about ONO here, I would try and hit up an admin in the ONO channel and see if they can provide more info. I don't know enough about their project to give a solid answer, unfortunately.

The "ram issue" was an issue that started at launch, when there was rampant speculation of RAM, which was not it's intended use. At any point in time, RAM can be increased to reduce price or provide more resources. I'm not a developer, but it seems like the issue or RAM has been resolved.

The token sale started first. Once the tokens were in circulation, exchanges started listing them. The price via the token sale was determined by however many ETH was submitted during the period of distribution.

I think it was 2 million EOS released each day. So however many ETH was submitted during that time = the cost per EOS. Which usually ended up to be around the same price as what it was trading at.

Its not gone, you can always unstake it. Staking is for using the network, i.e. sending transactions. Those could be sending tokens or using dapps like a decentralized twitter or facebook or playing a blockchain based game. It also used for voting. Only staked tokens count towards your voting power.

I don't think so. A proposal for renting of resources was just recently released. If the cost to buy the RAM is too high, renting is another option. Also more incetive to keep your EOS staked.

There could be some dapps that do require the use of the users resources, and yes, they may require a more substantial amount of RAM. However, would YOU use that dapp? Agree. Even if countries create their own digital currencies soon they can't easily fork a platform like EOS and then build a community around it. I'm bearish on pretty much all pure currency coins other than BTC (only due to its name brand and use as a crypto reserve currency). But I'm bullish on the top dapp platforms like EOS.

Guys i got a question. I had the airdrop Evotion on Eos. Yesterday i was at myetherwallet(which was connected with metamask), and i sent the Evotion to my idex wallet adress( so not the adress of a coin on idex but the adress of the idex wallet). But i do not know where to find that airdrop now on idex, because on etherscan i see that the transaction was succesfull, so that means that the tokens are sent.

No one knows if airdroppers will choose snapshots that include only voting eos, staked eos, or just holdings in general. They can do what they like, but personally, i'll be keeping the EOS I don't intend on selling staked in my account.

I've been getting a bunch of deposits of .0001 EOS to my account with an ad in the memo and it got me thinking that this is a brillant and extremely cheap marketing strategy. Basically you can reach 10,000 potential customers for 1 EOS... or around $7. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of these marketing "deposits" and over time they can start to add up. Maybe even someone will start a marketing service by sending people just .0001 EOS with an ad in the memo. Thoughts?

...i mean..I have NO clue where they are. Haha. You should check with IDEX. I'm strictly saying that if the dex doesn't support EVO, then they wouldn't have a wallet set up to receive them, so they may be lost.

its probably not possible nor needed to sync minecraft with a blockchain in realtime. but i could see it being possible that players could issue a manual sync request (“saving their game”) to send it out and store decentralized on the blockchain. so that your creations could eventually be sold to someone else.

I don't think we want RAM to be dirt cheap. RAM should be priced optimally, reasonable enough to use and expensive enough to drive further evolution and development of the ECO system. Value will be driven by the market. If it's not worth operating the block producers, the quality of block producers will continue to move towards excellence.

I think it's necessary that we have these powers in place, but I'm afraid we aren't ready to start using them. Because people like knowing that even if they get scammed, the powers in charge have the power to review and possibly return your funds in case anything happens. I'm fine managing my own keys, but some big custodial businesses might be better served knowing there's a back up for their investors? They can use a multi sig wallet for their hot wallet and cold storage for the bulk of their tokens. I honestly don't know how so many people get scammed in crypto. Stop entering your private keys in every unknown website or email that asks for them and you won't lose your tokens.

A good rule of thumb is to not speculate in something you don't understand. EOS is a very new project, there will most likely be a lot of tinkering and trials and errors at the beginning to make sure things work the way that they are intended to work and all the motivations are aligned to produce a positive result. It shouldn't come as a surprise when ideas are throw out and the very next day we see a 180 degree turn in opinion.😊

Well you seem not to be happy that rules can be changed very quickly. That's just the way it is right now. The point is not to make ram trading fair for speculators at the beginning, it's to make sure the system works in the long run. Speculators who trade now will have to weather that risk as well.

I don't work for block.one so I don't know the specifics, but I am sure when you raise so much money, it takes some time to think through how to spend the money wisely. I don't think it's likely that they already have a grand plan set out at the beginning of the ico. But at least a good portion of the money is allocated to help dapp developers on the eos ecosystem to get started. 😊

[EOS Block Producer Compliance] EOS contracts are legally binding, and violating contracts lead to serious ramifications. Block Producers, voted out to play fundamental roles in the blockchain, have a responsibility to abide by the law as duty. But according to an audit carried forward by a regulatory investigation team run by the community, there were Block Producers who have been gaining benefit without abiding to the law. Currently, the regproducer agreement articles that the investigators can refer to are as follows: 1. Open Website : All Block Producer candidates must mention their open website when running the regproducer command, and the website must reveal all necessary specific information 2. Revealing of Ownership : All Block Producers must reveal specifically the beneficial owners of the company and its shareholders. 3. Public Node : All Block Producers must have a public endpoint (P2p / API) Block Producers who have violated the Regproducer Ricardian contract must fulfill their legal duty by August 21, 2018, and if they fail to do so, there will be further action. Setting regulations and standards don’t make it more difficult to become a Block Producer, but make the system more secure and safe. We hope all Block Producers manage to abide by their legal duties by August 21, with no further action being needed.
