Agreed, but everyone was warned about it. IMO a shortage of cpu is great. It also opens up the leasing market... no one is gonna lease if it’s cheap to just buy

The issue is that if the network is running out of cpu at such an early stage how then the cost of cpu at scale will simply move people off EOS

People should view EOS as buying real estate and rent their property to others for usage... that in my opinion drives the most value for EOS. It encourages long term holders and ecosystem growth vs more speculators buying and selling

Last I heard there were some not great block producers in the mix and everytime it was their turn to produce CPU cost went from .2 to .8......Also there is a vote among the BP's to increase the throttle threshold from 20% to 30%.

My problem is that a lot of exchanges are voting with the community's tokens for their benefit. Bitfinex is the only one I know of that has an internal poll for people to voice their votes.

And we only count users that have been active in the last few minutes when calculating CPU costs. Does this make any sense.

At the moment, as an end-user, for example, you need to stake over 20 EOS (which is currently $100) to just be able to perform a transaction. It doesn't make sense that the resources of an end-user are consumed by the network before the user has the opportunity to stake their token and/or do anything. The resources should be made available in porportion to the stake and actual use. Just having an EOS account should not penalise you...

So, note that there are serious long term ramifications to EOS if we continue to increase the CPU target. We cannot continue to increase it indefinitely, and setting expectations of continued alleviation can be problematic. It's a road that we can't really go back from, and one that can really harm EOS if we're not careful. We don't have enough testing to determine at what point the target will kill EOS, so each increase is quite literally playing Russian roulette with the chain. So we are being careful, and planning testing right now. In the meantime, there are other proposals that need to be discussed. Updating the compiled versions of the system contracts should increase effeciency of the entire system. This should take priority as we know it is both safe and effective.

This. EOS is doing 5x more tx than BTC and is six months old whereas BTC has been around for 10 years. EOS needs a couple years to mature but is already absolutely crushing everything else out there. I agree with the previous sentiments about B1 voting, not allowing exchanges to vote and getting crappy BPs out of the top 21. All of these things plus REX would greatly alleviate the CPU situation

I wouldn't call it convenient, but for speed I do credit card purchases of ETH on Bitstamp and transfer to an exchange with EOS. Costs me about €5.50 per ETH (I think). ETH transfers tend to be much quicker than BTC. Binance has a ludicrous 0.1 EOS withdrawal fee though. Like... EOS transfers are fee-less, you money-grubbing bastards.

Yes, that is a factor too, your CPU depletes with every transaction and needs 24hours to recharge

Raising the threshold is a bandaid and may have negative consequences down the road. Bottom line is there are BPs with shitty performance in the top 21 and they should not be there - and I suspect along with the others that some bps are using inflation to support mining rather than mainnet ops. REX and B1 voting are needed asap to clean house in the top 21. The whole ecosystem is suffering because we don't have the best BPs in the top 21 slots

They determined that some of the tokens on ether delta were securities . Not sure which ones . Fork delta forked away from ether delta last March . Ether delta has been non operational for awhile . Anyone can list a coin on ether delta and as a dex it didn’t have control over who listed what . I think sec is heavy handed . I don’t know what the point of the charges were.

you can buy RAM "for another wallet" - if that helps. I don't know about being able to easily find out where RAM is used (there will be a way via cmd tools)

no, there's no easy way to see what's consuming ram. buying more ram is probably your best bet
