I'm not quite sure to the reasoning of this process either? What exactly am I registering? I'd assume i'm registering a proper address to exchange tokens, and in order to send the new blockchain tokens, I'm assuming you need a wallet capable of more than just the ERC-20 format, which limits the types of wallets used for the exchange? I'm not sure either, I'm just holding and hoping for better clarification before I'm faced with making a decision involving trust.

You realise that Block.one isn't officially launching an EOS blockchain, right? There probably will be an "official" EOS blockchain at some point that exchanges will use for their tokenswap. However, choosing this path rules out any chance of your holdings (at the time of the June 1st snapshot) being on other EOS-derived blockchains. Further, if the central pillar of blockchain tech is decentralisation, why would you want to centralise token swapping through exchanges?

Correct. And I think it's fine if you want to go down that path. My comment was to explain why the correct way of registering your tokens (through the smart contract) makes more sense.
Thank you

You can find in Youtube the process how to registe EOS (the video maybe 4-5 min.) I do that way and very helpful.
What do you not understand about the ambiguity offered through EOS? I'm not trusting a youtube video to risk my money...especially when the only thing I see on the EOS website is this vauge advice of contacting support privately.... https://medium.com/block-one/askblockone-a-response-to-your-technical-questions-about-the-registration-process-and-related-7ef4f4624b4d

Is this true or false: All but one of the block.one/EOS founders are U.S. citizens, and almost all of the block.one/EOS employees and developers are U.S. citizens, and they allocated a certain percentage of all EOS ERC-20 tokens to themselves for their own ownership of the ERC-20 and the actual EOS.

I literally just typed in google "how to register EOS tokens" I get a few reddit posts, and a ton of posts saying they are frustrated and have no clue how to do it. and have community helping them
you can also have on binance and they will do it for you, but just like btc, if you dont hold your own keys you cant guarantee that the exchange will attribute every btc fork to you

Token registration is really simple if you have an Exodus wallet - just click a button and it is done for you. However if you want to talk to a "live person" to help you with this visit EOS UK and they will talk you through it and advise you. https://eosuk.io/#contact or call 0115 822 4546, email bp@eosuk.io

It usually evens out to about the same price as the market. Sometimes it can be a little less, but it just depends. I personally prefer to buy on the token sale to avoid the fee to move it out of the exchange.

Hey guys, I've been checking Reddit and EOS.io for this info, but haven't quite understood it yet: when will native EOS tokens be tradable after Genesis?
Likely several days later. Thomas Cox noted coins will be initially all locked or staked for 3 days AFTER a main net chain achieves community consensus as THE EOS chain and exchanges accept it.

Mr. Hobbes22:12:50 - 16 May 2018 [UTC]
**Note about the Snapshot & Registration:** The current EOS contract on Ethereum will be frozen on June 1st and a snapshot of all EOS token balances registered to Ethereum addresses will be taken.* Block.one will make this snapshot publicly available on June 1-2 depending on your timezone.** Then, block producers not associated with block.one will begin the work of coordinating a main net launch of the EOSIO software and utilize the mentioned snapshot of EOS token balances to distribute EOS coins after a successful launch of the main net. A lot more detail goes into confirming a specific EOSIO chain as "THE" main net for EOS coin. It's likely that once the EOS ICO contract is frozen, no one will be able to utilize their balance until several days to a week or so later due to the complexity of coordinating a launch that ALSO receives consensus as THE EOS chain. More than 100 Block Producer Candidates have been preparing exhaustively with each other, including running EOS test nets and a test launch sequence, for some time now in other channels. This should lead to a coordinated launch with minimal hiccups, though a few getting started are to be expected, of course. * Dan Larimer recently noted that after the ICO ends and the snapshot is taken, any unregistered EOS tokens will likely be moved into a separate Ethereum contract and await an Ethereum Lite client to exist, at which point the rightful owners will need to sign a transaction with both their Ethereum and EOS private keys to receive their property. Some exchanges have officially announced that they will handle the EOS main net token swap for their users, including __Bitfinex, Binance, Kraken, Huobi, OKEx, Upbit, Cobinhood, Gopax, CoinSpot, OTCBTC, KKcoin, and KuCoin.__ It is expected that most exchanges will support the token swap, but users must contact specific exchanges directly or see their official announcements via their websites or social media. While leaving your EOS tokens on an exchange may be simpler, as you do not need to register them, most exchanges will not support all airdrops. Do not expect them to, as the time involved to track and distribute all airdrops among all coins that have airdrops is often too time-consuming for their staff.** To ensure you receive airdrops, as well as achieve maximum security of your property, registering your EOS address is the only way.** **Registration Video Tutorials:** The Awakenment (using My Ether Wallet) and Dallas Rushing (using Exodus) are active EOS community members you can find on YouTube with short tutorials on registering your EOS. EOS New York (a Block Producer candidate) also has a YouTube channel with a recent tutorial on securely generating your keys. NEVER give anyone your private key or they will become the owner of your coins. You only need to register once, adding or removing EOS tokens does not require re-registering. You can verify your EOS keys are registered correctly by visiting eosauthority[.]com.

What will happen to unregistered token on eos mainnet? Lost forever?
Note about the snapshot: The current EOS contract on Ethereum will be frozen and a snapshot of all EOS token balances registered to Ethereum addresses will be taken.* Block.one will make this snapshot publicly available on June 1-2 depending on your timezone.** Then, block producers not associated with block.one will begin the work of coordinating a main net launch of the EOSIO software and utilize the mentioned snapshot of EOS token balances to distribute EOS coins after a successful launch of the main net. More than 100 Block Producer Candidates have been preparing with each other, including a test launch sequence, for some time now in other channels. This should lead to a coordinated launch with minimal hiccups, though a few getting started are to be expected, of course. * Dan Larimer has recently noted that unregistered EOS tokens will likely be moved into a separate Ethereum contract and await an Ethereum Lite client to exist, at which point the rightful owners will need to sign a transaction with both their Ethereum and EOS private keys to receive their property. ** Some exchanges have officially announced that they will handle the EOS main net token swap for their users, including Bitfinex, Binance, Kraken, Huobi, OKEx, Upbit, Cobinhood, Gopax, CoinSpot, OTCBTC, KKcoin, and KuCoin. It is expected that most exchanges will support the token swap, but users must contact specific exchanges directly or see their official announcements via their websites or social media. While leaving your EOS tokens on an exchange may be simpler, as you do not need to register them, most exchanges will not support all airdrops. Do not expect them to, as the time involved to track and distribute all airdrops among all coins that have airdrops is often too time-consuming for their staff. To ensure you receive airdrops, as well as achieve maximum security of your property, registering your EOS address is the only way.

Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's views and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and everyone's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.

Works but just because it's encrypted doesn't mean it will stay that way. The private key can be compromised, brute forced etc.

Once the data is compromised it's on an immutable ledger, last place you want it stored.

computers get faster and more powerful. security holes in encryption algorithms might be found. you can't change data on the blockchain ever. but you can change the software that powers the blockchain (and the encryption it uses)

That's a spam coin. It was placed there using an exploit that makes etherscan think that it was deposited into your wallet. Basically a clever way of getting people to search for it, in turn bringing traffic to the website. It's like a spam ad.

2 minute Google search: Some exchanges have officially announced that they will handle the EOS main net token swap for their users, including Bitfinex, Binance, Kraken, Huobi, OKEx, Upbit, Cobinhood, Gopax, CoinSpot, OTCBTC, KKcoin, and KuCoin.

Also, just because they're supporting it doesn't mean there's no chance of them screwing it up or something going wrong on their end. Still safest if people follow the documentation and do it themselves.

The airdrops are sent to the ETH address from your exodus wallet as long as you have your EOS registered. You might not be able to see the airdrops in your exodus wallet (unsupported) but they still exist on the ETH blockchain at your address. You can export your ETH private keys from Exodus and use Etherdelta to buy, sell or transfer the ERC20 airdrops anytime.

They sure do. They rock man. Third party non-open source software but it’s the best I’ve ever seen and the guys that run it are very transparent. If you DL the wallet immediately and permanently delete the backup link they email you. It’s a weak link in security. Write down the 12 word seed and you are good to go, make a 12 digit alphanumeric password too and don’t save the pass or seed on your computer.

I believe it’s a group of 50 and then the network randomly chooses 21 to launch the chain. As soon as the chain is up and running, the community can vote for those BPs or choose to elect new BPs. The interesting part is that a chain can not be launched until 15% of tokens are claimed / voted.

The chain will be launched by the 21 initial BPs and as soon as the boot up process is completed, anyone can vote and dynamically replace the initial BPs while keeping the chain up and running the entire time.

Eosdac is an ERC20 so it’s on the Ethereum chain. A wallet just lets you “see” them and transfer them to other addresses. I’m not sure when they will move to the eos mainchain but regardless they will always be associated with your EOS ERC20 address (unless you send them to another address). Your public and private ETH address for EOS tokens are the same for any airdrops- they all go to the same ETH address.

Is exodus safe?
Exodus is safe if you take a few steps. It’s a “hot” wallet but you can make it a “warm” wallet by downloading it to a separate laptop or PC than your daily machine. This minimizes bots and hacking. Immediately delete the backup link from your email and make a good 12 digit alphanumeric password. Don’t download anything you don’t need or trust and don’t save password or Seed phrase on the computer the wallet is on. A software wallet is as secure as u make it.

You register your wallet not your eos. I got mine on binance and sent it to my mew. All you do is generate the eos keys. Then on the scroll Dow select eos contribution click access and the in the second scroll down menu click register and put in the eos public key. If you are not sure you registered go to eos authority and put in your muse wallet and click run and it should say how many are registered

Between the DAC, the EOS mainnet and the airdrops, I am thoroughly confused...
To keep it straight eos is June 1. Snapshot etc all of the other that start with eos like eosdac, evo on and on and trying to be voted for to be main block producers after mainnet. All the token from anything associated with eos that was dropped to your wallet will be transitioned after the June 1 snapshot. If they got airdropped just think, hmm they had to know my wallet and I had to have registered them to get this airdrops because that is what these companies are basing their drops on. When eos moves, they move also!!
