Yeah, but the point in registering is to give your eos public key for the new tokens to be allocated to. Then you can access them with you're eos private key.

There is no practical reason to do this

It's entirely for practical reasons. It's design is to enable the new chain to know where to put the tokens for people to be able to access them. Registering just links your ethereum address to an eos public key.

This is most certainly not the case. Unregistered addresses will nearly all be covered by the fallback plan, but registering is strongly recommended. Block.one strongly want to achieve a wide distribution.

You don't need to worry if you have your address registered and eos keys generated. You need to worry if you leave them on an exchange becaus when the mainnet will launch more than one chain will be created so an exchange may decide to give you some other tokens than the "right ones". When you own your keys you have the power over your EOS so register please

Regarding the freezing from the website: Within 23 hours after the end of the final period on June 1, 2018 at 22:59:59 UTC, all EOS Tokens will become fixed (ie. frozen) and will be non-transferrable on the Ethereum blockchain

Does anyone know a good **cheap** way to get your existing ether and eos erc-20 to a new address in a way whereby it's not strongly linked to current holdings? If you keep your tokens on Bitfinex you don't have to worry about mainnet launch too much - You will get IQ tokens airdropped and maybe some others. If you want to get all the airdrops you need to get your own wallet and register. Good luck

If you can't claim from exodus you'll have to export your private key and use one of the other wallets if you need to claim. If your only concern is getting native eos tokens though, you don't have to claim, you can just register. This may have ramifications with some airdrops though for all I know.

I would never rely on an exchange to do this. simply set up a wallet with MEW offline/locally, send EOS tokens to that public address, and register. If you don't, your tokens are gone

What do you need to do?

You can get a private key from MEW without it ever touching the internet. download MEW from github, turn off wifi, run MEW locally and create a wallet. send EOS to your newly created public address and register. there are clear instructions online on how to register your tokens

You only need to register your wallet once, even if you transferred tokens in/out after you registered. As long as tokens are in your registered wallet before launch you are good to go.

The same website has a tool you can use offline to verify your private key corresponds to your public key. I don’t recommend using it though, as you need to be sure you use it on a computer that stays offline forever.

I think there’s a way to recover the not registered eos so.. pretty difficult to see a supply reduction in the long term though we could see it in a short term

You may use the existing wallet. Your existing wallet funds wouldn’t affected as you don’t share your MEW private keys. You also have the option to register as many wallets you want to if you want to keep your tokens distributed in multiple wallets.

Hi guys, I moved my eos to MEW, transferred it to the official crowdsale address, then created my eos key, registered them and now I tried to claim my tokens. Since I just did that yesterday, I know the period. Still, no eos are found and no eos are transferred to my account using claim. Afaik you can’t do anything but wait, once mainnet is running, apparently a contract is / will be written to claim your eos sent to contract. This is not 100% but what I have read over a while in this channel. When @hadrianbts or @sandw1ch are back online they can tell you more. Speak to them in the main channel do not speak to people in private chat re keys etc

Not exactly. The purists suggested that it has to be zero. The more experienced people pointed out that that 0% was impossible for various practical and legal reasons. The discussion then looked at common international regulations concerning corporate ownership. <10% was agreed to by the majority of people in the group as workable and acceptable. Whether most token holders think it should be more or less has yet to be measured by a vote.

You can't register tokens, only addresses. And you can't register on eosauthority.com, only check your registration. I moved my eos to MEW, transferred it to the official crowdsale address, then created my eos key, registered them and now I tried to claim my tokens. Since I just did that yesterday, I know the period. Still, no eos are found and no eos are transferred to my account using claim. So now the situation is that I put all my eos to the crowdsale address, the eos keys are registered to my MEW but I cannot claim my eos. How can I fix this? Hadrian can you help me?

Your cannot get your eos erc-20 tokens back because you mistakenly sent then to the distribution contact. The good news is that you'll be able to access native eos tokens when the blockchain is launched. You need to ensure that you've registered the ethereum address from which you sent the tokens to the contract. Then keep the eos private key safe. This is possible because the snapshot script attributes tokens mistakenly sent to the eos smart contracts to the sending address.

I’d like to have a confirmation regarding eos token snapshot. When is it exactly? Binance writes that they will start the mainnet swap procedure on 31th May and all the trading will be suspended on that day. Eos.io website says it will be within 23 hours after the final eos token distribution period which will occur on June 1 at 22:59 UTC. Eoscountdown says that the snapshot will be on June 3 so when exactly is the snapshot? A tweet from eos.io official account would clarify everything

Taking the snapshot I believe to be a long drawn out procedure, trawling through the ethereum blockchain and parsing it. The eos.io website is referring to the freezing of the tokens (which happens before the snapshot). Binance is ensuring that they cease deposit and withdrawal before the freezing. It's not possible to give a precise time for completion of the snapshot. The thing which will affect most people more though is the freezing.

Yes, which might have ramifications with airdrops, depending upon how they work. Hopefully most will use the same snapshot as block.one rather than looking at actual account balances. This would be more practical for them, so I guess it will be the case.
