i forget what you were trying to do.. if you are just trying to access your eos, then you goto MEW, click the send and receive tokens tab, and access/unlock wallet with your private key. if you are trying to register your eos, then you can find more instructions on eos website. when you goto eos website, scroll down to the "get eos" button and click it.. on that page you can find a section about registering..

Apparently account names are produced deterministically for the transition from erc-20 distribution token to native token, so you cannot choose one. But once the blockchain is running you can create a new account and choose your name within certain parameters (I think it must be 12 characters/letters?). I've not seen any information on this other than through @telepound (Roshan of EOS Authority). I think I've spent too much time in here instead of learning in other groups😢... It looks like premium account names will be available at auction. The name isn't auctioned, the highest bidder chooses their name.

metamask looks more like the option i am looking, MEW look nice, but when i did the account there (i am a newbie!) it gives me different options to log in, it warns me that is unsecure to use the json or the private key to sign in to MEW, it advices me to use for example metamask, it stills confuses me a bit, lol. I could solely use metamask, or just mew, but i could use MEW+Metamask too? 😅

Yes. If you're going to use both you'd be accessing your metamask address through myetherwallet.com. So you'd want to install metamask, back it up, then start using it. You could then use it with the eos.io distribution interface, or via myetherwallet (or of course mycrypto). If you're going to use mew on it's own then go for the browser extension because it's more secure.

Different subsets of transactions will no doubt be validated by various parties. For example if you're running a dapp such as a decentralised exchange on eos you'd want to validate any transactions relevant to you, but could limit validation to this subset. The modular nature I think will mean that validation is more feasible because it's less demanding. So the way I see it the whole blockchain will be validated by a 'patchwork' of interested parties.

the problem of you question is: what do you consider profit ? If you measure profit in usd, or in other currencies, there is a problem: the value of money isn't linear. The more you have, the less you need. So, yes, we are all here for profit, but we may profit various ways, for example: a) increase of token value (that just means decrease of fiat currency value compared to token value) b) enjoyng to be part of a community that permits a new way of creating value c) creating value (like dapps, or arbitration, or whatever) for the community d) using the products of the community (like dapps) for wither working or to get useful services

I imagine there will be very many validators, each covering small subsets of apps. But still a lot of people/groups/businesses covering larger subsets and still some covering everything, such as block producers and the many standby producers.

Exodus is one only a couple clicks to register I believe. The Awakenment YouTube channel has a MEW guide. Dallas Rushing has an Exodus tutorial on YouTube. That said, Kraken officially announced they will handle the token swap in June for their customers if it's too complicated for you.

I don't envisage a situation where block producers have enough of the total supply to be immune to being voted out due to bad behavior. Even if they somehow amassed such a huge stake (how could they?), if they misbehaved they'd lose all their money when we forked away and shunned them.

On a TPS level, sure BTC is slow comparatively, but there are many reasons why BTC is not needed to be a fast layer. It will become a settlement layer and the higher layers (lightning for example) will have the speed.

Attention all holders of EOS: The EOS mainnet will be launched after June 3rd, 2018 and the EOS ERC20 token contract will cease to work after June 1st. Failing to register your EOS address could result in the loss of all funds held in EOS. EOS ERC20 tokens in an un-registered Ethereum address after the Snapshot will become frozen without the ability to ever use them again. This will be a major loss for EOS token holders who are not aware of the mainnet switch or how to register their EOS ERC20 token address to the EOS mainnet. We've mostly got past the myopic fascination with tps in this group as awareness and understanding has increased. It's mainly brought up by people who are here to shill (😝). It's a largely irrelevant discussion once you realise that the term 'transaction' needs to be qualified and framed in terms of what the blockchain is actually doing. Also consider that it's not likely to be a bottleneck for eos because it was built with scaling in mind. We can move from single-threaded to multi-threaded to scale up when necessary, along with implementing other optimisations. Also upon launch eos will be capable of inter-blockchain communication which will enable an unlimited number of transactions per second, by utilising multiple eosio chains using the core eos token.

That's a problem almost ubiquitously across the internet. There is this tool in eosio github which generates and validates keys, but you'd have to compile it: https://github.com/EOSIO/genesis/tree/keys-simple/tools/keys That's a github page too though. Or you can use the generator on eos.io , preferably disconnected from the internet when you generate. There are other options like scatter also. It comes down to choosing the method which best suits and then using best practices to make it more secure.

Just received an official email from Kraken support that stated: “We will not exempt US citizens or residents from the conversion to mainnet” -Tibet (Kraken Support) So if I buy EOS from binance or Kraken and store then on Kraken, will I actually get official EOS tokens after June 1st? Have been accused of plagiarism on their white paper of ethereum and other coins, now they are said to be using super delegates for their nodes ? Are they now a dpos blockchain? They have not credited anyone for their work previously so it would not surprise me if it's just a copycat of eos to be launched a day ahead of eos with "Super Delegates" can anyone look into it a bit more, I am not a developer and I can not tell via their github

No. "Official" is the wrong word to use but there will most likely be a dominant blockchain that garners the vast majority of community support. The dApps will likely run on that. It is possible, however, that other dApps will use the open source software to launch their own chain

(I'm not representative of block.one) I'd go for the hardware wallet option with a registered address. I know block.one have restrictions in their terms for the sale of the distribution tokens. But an eosio based blockchain will not be launched by block.one. For me it's not a plausible scenario for block producers to want to attempt to impose kyc measures on people accessing their tokens.

If you're in the US and have EOS on Kraken, then it reads as if you'd want to move your tokens to a local wallet you control the private keys to, which is preferable anyway. There are a dozen or more exchanges that will support the token swap for main net, but they haven't commented on things like Kraken did with US customers.

So you know, there's no law in the US that says anything about investing in EOS. Block.one, under legal counsel advice, for simplicity, limited the ICO from US investors via their ICO page. EOS will be a functioning coin with its own community run blockchain and network. At that point, goodluck deeming it a security or anything other than a utility platform, free, open source software being used by a globally decentralized community of people.

Are you saying you've registered two different ethereum addresses? That doesn't matter. Just make sure the one your tokens will be at in June is registered and you have the eos private key that goes with the registered eos public key.

This is interesting. Where 100% of EOS ERC20 supply is currently in free float (circulation). When EOS native token launches - as it is a utility token - anyone wanting to use the token must "lock it" effectively taking it out the free float. That means that "over night" the ammount of EOS in free float will go from 100% to xx% (and will continue to drop as more and more DAPPs need tokems locked in to operate...

Unregistered EOS ERC-20 tokens aren't and won't be in liquid supply as it is. That alone is a huge amount of EOS that will take time to access. After main net launch, all EOS that are registered will be automatically staked in the beginning, so three days for users to unstake and freely use.

Hi Simon, thanks for your concerns. As a person who has been closely-involved with the English-language community Credits/Acknowledgments process I'm taking it upon myself to reply to the second part of your message. I do not speak officially or unofficially for EOS Go or for Block.one. This is my personal statement and point-of-view: 1 - While I do not speak for EOS Go, to my knowledge EOS Go does not (and never has) represented EOS.IO "officially." 2 - The credits/acknowledgments process was extensively and publicly discussed and vetted in EOSIO Gov telegram chat several weeks ago. While the current proposal isn't perfect, at the moment it seems to be the best-available informal, default consensus. It has been informally adopted for not only the English-language EOS community, but so far also the Chinese, the Korean, and possibly soon the Japanese-language communities. If others believe they can design, vet, informally confirm, implement, execute, and finalize a better overall nominations process before a possible blockchain launch in June they are welcome to attempt it. 3 - The final credits/acknowledgments file will not be "official" in any sense. It is a community-sourced effort. It will be up to any participating launch Block Producers to decide how or whether to include it in a genesis block or first-transaction on a hypothetical live EOS blockchain. As no formal community consensus is possible at this time (e.g. via on-chain voting,) in practice it will be the participating launch Block Producers alone who make the final collective decision about whether to include the credits file. 4 - Part of the intention of the credits list & process is to focus on individual, personal, human contributions. With that in mind there are no organization names included and none will be added, except possibly for Block.one itself. This is made clear in the EOS Go SteemIt announcement post, and in the Github proposal. To my understanding EOS Go is neither requesting nor intending to be named (as an organization) in the credits/acknowledgments file. 5 - If you wish to understand more about the process, please read not only the SteemIt announcement, but also the linked original Process Proposal near the end of the SteemIt announcement. I agree with this. EosGo are not writing any names into a genesis block if it happens - it's up to the block producers and the community, and I wouldn't say it infers any kind of power to EosGo (who I've never thought to be linked with block.one). It's an initiative which is a nice gesture and has involved the community. I could understand arguments saying the genesis should be neutral with no acknowledgements, but tend to think this is not necessary. After all it's a human project into which people have put a great deal of passion and work, so I see no harm in the community celebrating that. The community, and the way it will be able to engage with the blockchain is one of EOS's distinguishing characteristics.

Thank you - did dan larimer post something about how staking works again? ... Again sorry for applying a price perspective on this, but what you are saying essentially means: 100% of ERC20 EOS tokens are currently in free float - as they have no utility. (And we have a 2 million tokens/day inflation due to ongoing ICO) As main net will launch, after the initial lock up and BPs are chosen - anyone running a DAPP need EOS tokens to run it. In order for them to "use EOS for their DAPP", they need to stake it/lock it. Therefor the ammount of new EOS tokens in free float will be tokens that are "not used by DAPPs" - this ammount will assumeably be significantly smaller than current EOS ERC20 supply - and it will assumeably become smaller and smaller as more DAPPs run (we will have 4% token inflation yearly). ... In layman terms: - we can expect a drastically reduced and diminishing supply of EOS in free float - and as they now have utility and the "messy swap is over" and main net is launched. We would expect considerably increased demand...

Also consider less than half of EOS tokens have been registered. Unregistered EOS tokens will be unavailable on the EOS main net until they are appropriately registered. Registration ends June 1. After that, any unregistered tokens will be moved into a holding contract and await a process to exist where owners can sign a transaction with both their Ethereum key and EOS key to claim their main net EOS coins. That in addition to what you said should lead to a significantly reduced supply of EOS "free" or liquid after main net launch. Also, don't forget the RAM market outlined in DAWN 4.0 in which it's possible to reduce our negate inflation.
