Apparently you have to manually sign up for the airdrop which seems stupid. So instead of great instructions they just say you have to send this hex value to their smart contract address, which i guess you best do with MyEtherWallet. You don’t have to send any funds to them just pay Gas for the ETH transaction.

what method did you use?

This is where my balance of security with convenience lies. I booted Ubuntu from a usb stick on a laptop which wasn't networked. Ran offline steem/BitShares paperwallet key generators and changed the prefix on the public key to "EOS". I also used the eosauthority validator to check the keys. I'm going to validate them again though to check I didn't do anything stupid.

All eos ERC-20 tokens will be frozen. Centralised exchanges just shuffle IOUs until withdrawal is requested which is why trading can continue. I take your point though. I expect most people wanting to actually use eos will be holding their tokens at their own addresses.

I need someone to confirm this for me: If I don't select "Transfer" and then transfer my purchased EOS tokens TO my MetaMask wallet (from the crowdsale purchase page), they won't show up, right? I have logged in the purchase page (eos.io/distribution), purchased tokens in December, claimed my tokens, checked eosauthority.com (and it all looks good), have added the EOS smart contract to my MetaMask wallet under "Token --> Add Token", but my EOS balance there shows up as 0. In the https://eos.io/distribution page, my balance is reflected correctly. Why is MetaMask showing zero? Do I need to "transfer" them to my metamask wallet address?

I've added EOS to MetaMask through "Tokens --> Add Token", and in the "distribution" dap on EOS' site, all my tokens are claimed and the balance reflected there is correct (and the address to my ethereum account/metamask is correct too). EOSAuthority says all my tokens are registered and ready to go...but MetaMask shows a 0 balance

After claiming them, my token balances are unchanged. Is that just due to network congestion/confirmation times on Ethereum, or does the Token balances section reflect all tokens, claimed and unclaimed?

Last thing: I had 40 unclaimed tokens I forgot about. I just claimed them. After "claiming", my total balance hasn't changed. The balances displayed show total tokens you have, whether claimed or unclaimed, right? So claiming shouldn't increase the number by 40, should it?

that is not true. it depends on each project how they want to handle their airdrop. some you automatically get them. some you get them only if you have 100 eos, or sometimes 25 eos. i have not seen 1000 yet. for some you also have to manually sign up through various methods.

That's not how it works. Register your metamask address and use your eos private key with the eos blockchain. There's no conversion to be done as such (unless you count the snapshot as a conversion).

I have sent my EOS (erc20) from my MEW wallet to EOS contract address. Then I was adviced to link my ETH to EOS (I used Sandw1ch instruction), it would be possible to get them back after testnet lauch it was said. Tomorrow in a few hours the net would be launched. Is it possible to check my EOS balance address or how to use them after net lauch (smth like etherscan to check or MEW to manage)
