You can do it on eos.io with the distribution interface and metamask. But an official site isn't really necessary because it's just a case of reading from the blockchain: https://steemit.com/eos/@sandwich/how-to-check-which-eos-public-key-is-mapped-to-your-eth-address-with-myetherwallet-mew Or eosauthority.com is handy - it'll tell you what your account name will be!

Because native eos tokens will be on the eos blockchain(s), not a fork of ethereum. Your eos account needs an eos private key. You should register because it involves generating an eos keypair then mapping your ethereum address to your eos public key. Then on the eos blockchain the snapshot will have been used to allocate your erc-20 balance to your registered eos public key in the genesis block. You can access your account/tokens with your eos private key.

It's not officially repped by Block.one, it's a tool to generate without using the ICO website. You can also simply follow the instructions on the EOS ICO page. Also, plenty of trusted community members have released videos on the matter.

There is a key generator on eos.io which will work if you disconnect after you've loaded the page, but the one in the sandwich guide can be put on removable media and used on a device which will never be networked.

IP address filtering is a hindrance because it's in the way of the information, not just the distribution interface. I'd have found the last year a lot less frustrating if the information about how everything works was more accessible on eos.io . I blame the legal landscape for my woes!

Await a community wallet. EOSIO doesn't require the mainstream to hold tokens.

I suppose that's because eos enables dapps to use business models which are 'free to end users'? But that needs to be reconciled with the idea that the distribution has been designed to be as broad as possible.

I just stumbled upon this article by Dan Larimer. Other than an genius he’s also a great writer. His point of view on privacy and transparency is something drastic and a major mindset shift would be needed in order to accept it globally but blockchain could be the first step in this direction. We can see that the privacy is only an illusion. Hey, can someone tell me why I shouldn be an EOS developer rather than an ETH developer/HoloChain developer etc? What's so good about EOS and the OS platform?

I’m a recruiter so I’m speaking from a non-technical view point and my interpretation of EOS based on discussion I’ve had with devs in the space. (I could be totally off in my interpretation. Devs, please feel free to correct me) The key difference and main benefit of EOS is that it’s a true OS—an operating system.; unlike Ethereum; which is a virtual computer that still requires you to buildout features of an OS before you can run your app. EOS “bridges” the gap between the front end —UX/UI and the backend (database); and creates middleware functionality so you don’t need to building things from scratch as you would with Ethereum. From what I understand, Ethereum still requires you to create “middleware” apps that tie your UI to your backend. As a dev building on EOS, you’d save a ton of time, energy and resources if you didn’t have to worry about “middleware”. This might be a stretch but think of DOS command lines vs Windows wizard setup. *I’m not sure if middleware is the right term; so hopefully you understand what I mean when I use it.

@hadrianBTS, I have a problem with my EOS, I participated in the ICO and claimed my tokens to my metamask wallet, it shows on EOS website as “unclaimed 0” but it is not visible in my metamask wallet. However when I check on etherscan I see EOS on my eth address. I added EOS contract address and decimal 18 and also tried 8 decimals but no luck can you pls advise. This has been the case since last night (about 20hr now)

No, register the wallet address once is enough. Amount of tokens doesn't matter for registration. The snapshot will count the tokens, in the address.

Some of the airdrops distribute based on that requirement. But not all. Some may require that you have a minimum of 25. Some may require that your address is registered. Some may require that you sign up and provide an e-mail address. It really just depends on which airdrop it is.

Have anyone considered that: When EOSIO will launch - we will go from having a ERC20 (no utility) token, where 100% of the token supply is in free float (circulation) To having EOS, a utility token which us needed to run blockchain DAPPs on EOSIO. In order to "use EOS" tokens need to be staked/locked. Assuming that a lot of EOS will be used for the utility & thereby will be locked. In addition un-registered EOS (+40% of total supply last I checked) will be locked until properly claimed. We will effectively see that the free float of EOS will be drastically reduced on launch & that it will further diminish with more DAPPs running on EOSIO. At the same time EOSIO will be launched (lots of attention), the "messy swap" will be history... in short it is fair to assume a increased demand for EOS. So drastically reduced & further diminishing supply if EOS (in free float) & a significantly increased demand of EOS. ... Get ready for a fun ride peeps :)

I've been looking all over for this and I can't find it: is there a good guide to how voting for validators will work? I know it's command line and I know there's a project working on a more user friendly interface for down the line, but as I understand it the voting is only command line early on. I can't find any official statements from Block.One or others explaining the process for establishing validators, though. I've read a bunch here, googled about, looked at Reddit and Steemit... I just don't see it. As I understand it, there were some changes made recently so I'd like o see more on how that happened or what the motivation was (but I could also be wrong)

I researched something yesterday that you may be interested in. Right now censorship against "rouge states" goes both ways. It's not only the governments of these states that are restricting what information their citizens can see, countries like the US are also censoring those people as well. For example US sanctions prevent Amazon from letting people in Iran access AWS. This not only impacts the ability of Iranian citizens to access applications hosted on AWS without a VPN, it also prevents companies in Iran from hosting applications on AWS. Sanctions like this seem counter productive to me as they isolate Iranians from the world and make it harder for their system to be reformed from within. Perhaps with EOS the citizens of the world will have more access to both use and host applications in the cloud.

Unregistered erc20 tokens will be put into a holding contract and await a process to exist where owners can sign a transaction with both their Ethereum key and EOS key to claim their main net EOS coin.

Any tokens kept on exchanges will be registered by the exchanges themselvses (they are not stupid), but not necessarily to the account holders within that exchange. And each exchange has different protocols on how to deal with EOS.

This article was relevant before eos tokens were automatically shown in mew. You used to have to 'add custom token' in order for your balance to show. It's no longer necessary with mew.

Not true. Its only been within the last 7-8 Months events have been lack luster for overall marketcap. Take a look at last year. A wiff of a palm beach report pumped 4 privacy coins even before release.
