A key pair is able to have an accounts. Accounts can have owner and active permissions. Keys, accounts, permissions and permissions can have keys for added protection.

Hello. I registered my EOS tokens on the EOS network by transferring them to MEW and going through the whole process. I jotted down the public and private key. My question is how do I transfer EOS tokens from MEW to an exchange? Binance list binancecleos as the deposit address but MEW doesn't let me send to that deposit address.

scatter is one of the methods used like greymass or simpleos to access your eos on the mainet...when you withdaw from binance you don't send you eos to a hard wallet but to your account on the mainnet.... so basically the only thing you need to withdarw is your account name

if your eos was in binance during snapshot then that means you just have tokens currently on of of binance's eos account, but you dont own an eos account yourself yet. creating an account costs some money: you can do it e.g. on https://zeos.co

no if you just generate keypairs by themselves they're useless. you have to attach a public key to a new or existing account for it to do anything.

you have to generate a new keypair (optimally two actually). then you find a way to create a new account (e.g. with zeos or maybe you can pay someone you know who has an existing eos account) and attach one of the public keys as the "owner" permission key and the other public key as the "active" permission key (you could also use the same for both, but that's less secure). then if you have the private keys for those you have full control over that account.

that's not a hack. they dont have any value. they transitioned to the mainnet, there's new tokens. where have you been? did you register your tokens properly? if not you can use the "registration fallback method" to get your mainnet eos account

if you didnt register then you were supposed to enter your ETH **private** key into a key generator like Scatter and then switch to EOS to get the equivalent EOS private and public key. did you do that? do you still have to do that?

It's not fishy, binance said they had a lot on their hands, lot of mainnets going live and to unstake eos takes three days. Then you already have an account. Exodus still have to implement EOS wallets into their app. The EOS you have on there just now are the EOS Ethereum ERC20 tokens. The EOS ERC20 tokens were only used for the snapshot to verify how many EOS you had. Those tokens are now frozen indefinitely. You can wait until Exodus implements the EOS wallets into their app or you can access your EOS from an EOS wallet with the EOS keys you got from registering. You can get those keys on Exodus through the developer menu. If you registered before snapshot with eos.io your account should have been created. Just use one of the eos wallet and you can register with your given private key. And you can see your account.

You’ll need to use a wallet to unstake your EOS before you can move them. It takes 72 hours for the staked EOS to become liquid after you unstake them. You can use the greymass wallet to unstake. Rob Finch has provided a video to help you get set up with the Greymass wallet. Rob also covers how to unstake using the wallet if you wish to. Exodus still have to implement EOS wallets into their app. The EOS you have on there just now are the EOS Ethereum ERC20 tokens. The EOS ERC20 tokens were only used for the snapshot to verify how many EOS you had. Those tokens are now frozen indefinitely. You can wait until Exodus implements the EOS wallets into their app or you can access your EOS from an EOS wallet with the EOS keys you got from registering. You can get those keys on Exodus through the developer menu.
