The EOS ERC20 tokens were only used for the snapshot to verify how many EOS you had. Those tokens are now frozen indefinitely. Extremely sloppy in the setramrate updating process. Apparently No test run ahead of time by any BPs, the sudden increase of 1.52GB of RAM is apparently due to wrong initialization of the start time (so that 8-9 days of 1KB/block trickling got dumped to market at once). Shouldn’t be just “oops but let’s move on”. The community should dig deeper and ask : 1) Who is responsible, 2) what remedy should there be, as such sudden increase of 1.52GB is NOT the Intent of the Code change, 3) what procedure should be in place in future for this kind of code update

From what I see, on setramrate approval voting process conducted by EOS authority, most BPs got caught either in political show or operate under political pressure, there was apparently NO test run by BPs community, probably no coordination with Block.one at the moment of code updating to the network in case of some unexpected issues. In addition, while Dan @daniellarimer and B1 had code change ready, and proposed 1KB/block (a few weeks ago, he also mentioned a couple of hundred bytes per block), I see NO BP did any independent appraisal of what they think it’s the appropriate ram growth rate, and clearly lay out their rationale, and have public debates on their thoughts on RAM proposal. The community got too caught up in blaming ram price, and blaming speculators. As guardians of the network, the BPs showed no independent work nor conduct any test runs, very disappointing

If an account has been frozen it will most likely be because the BPs have all voted to do so from the permission from the ECAF Arbitrators. This would only be done if the user had provided proof that their account was comprimised. I think this is what you are refering too

It's not about speculators. It's about a code change that BPs approved that unexpectedly added 1.5 gb of ram without anybody realizing what was going to happen. How do they approve code changes without any actually reading the code and testing it before deployment.

Thing is, this EOS is a brand new system. Who do u trust more? The chief architect? Or a random group of BPs u don't really know. We just barely got off the ground. All this is just shaping the future. We will see who are the good BPs and who are the bad ones. At this point in time, I would definitely go with the Chief Architect.

For those who care about development in RAM market, here is a question to ask and clarify: what’s the impact to price if total supply doubles from 64GB to 128GB (be it in 1 day or 1 year)? Is it that the price will just be cut in half? Say if RAM is priced at 0.26 EOS/kB now(64GB), will it just drop to 0.13 EOS/kB(128GB)? Answer is NO. It will drop 80% to 0.05-0.06 Eos/kB, all else equal(assuming the demand stays the same). Why? Because of Bancor. In bancor framework, the RAM price is an inverse function of “the REMAINING RAM supply”. At current price of 0.26eos/kB, the remaining RAM supply is about 15-16GB (check eospark.com), so to increase another 64GB to 79-80GB, that’s 5x , so RAM price will drop to 20% of 0.26 = 0.05eos/kB . And that’s exactly why we witnessed a drop of 10% in RAM (from 0.29 to 0.26) when the code got updated (64GB to 65.52GB, but really, what mattered was:15GB to 16.52GB remaining supply +10%)

Hey @sandw1ch, if for some reason a user were to have registered, but their key was registered incorrectly or lost, is there a method to recover or make a claim for those tokens?

Fallback only applies to unregistered accounts. Losing private key for registered address is SOL. It’s possible at a later time the network could find a way to allow redemption through ETH key validation.
