How can it be that "Bitfinex Users" all voted for exactly the same set of BPs? Shouldnt there be a wide variation btwn BPs voted by “Bitfinex Users”?

Could the exchanges still assign staked EOS that their users haven't use to vote (yet or won't) to vote for their preferred/colluded BPs (including themselves)? Votes can then also be easily switched if any users wishes to vote for other set of BPs with their stake, etc. and no one would know. I think it is good at this point to be ultra paranoid of the top BPs for now until the whole governance thing becomes more established and mature to weed out bad players and bring actual trust and confidence to the community.

I think for exchanges that are not sufficiently transparent, a guilty unless proven innocent stance should be imposed. Transparency of BPs should be a must considering that they are engines of the whole network.

yeah I think something is bugged out on my acct. Ever since last night it's basically telling me the address is invalid OR that 2FA failes (without brining it up) - resolution - Enable SMS auth, log out, disabled Google, Logged out, Log in, Enable Google. Log out, Log in. success!

Only existing eos accounts can create new eos accounts. You can use the generator to generate keys for an account. When you create an account you must specify public key(s). Keys for accounts can also be changed. You can have owner keys and active keys.

Here’s a proposal, what if we could set a developer fee to users who want to develop on EOS, similar to how apple does it, and the fee would be staked as a developer fee which you would get back once you unstake it? If you’ve staked a developer fee then the Ram purchase/selling becomes available to you. This won’t stop everyone who wants to speculate on the price but it should cut down the number of people who do.

I'm still surprised RAM would even be allowed to be traded as such without more strict controls in place, including fixed prices by BPs and such to prevent such speculative rises in price and adversley impacting the actuall use of EOS by dapp developers; that is unless the dapp developers were in on it as well and purposely delaying their airdrop until they first capitalized on the RAM and then bought back at a lower price after the runup...

Staking is for using the network, i.e. sending transactions. Those could be sending tokens or using dapps like a decentralized twitter or facebook or playing a blockchain based game. It also used for voting. Only staked tokens count towards your voting power. The 72h safety net is a myth. The hackers when they have the private key for your account (specifically the "owner" permission key) can simply change the keys used to access that account and make your old keys useless.

if you didnt register eos before the mainnet launch then you didnt get an eos account for free and need to pay for the ram required to store the account data. right now it costs around 1.5 EOS for a new account.
