After talking with the Bancor guys, I have concluded that we could further absorb demand for RAM without impacting current tech requirements by pre-selling RAM that is convertable to RAM at future date. For example we could sell 1TB convertable to RAM in 5 years. I call this PRAM. It will be a new market that will represent present demand to hold/hedge RAM that won't be needed for 5 years. As long as we can have very high confidence that in 5 years 1 TB of RAM will be viable then we can allow it to start trading now.

Seriously. What’s the Point of making the RAM market crash ? Such a Proposal ( of allowing the Trading of 1 TB of PRAM ) would do just that? Why should RAM be so cheap, it’s almost cheap to use... Will we do the same thing to the EOS tokens to provide cheap CPU and bandwidth to Devs ? There is a COST to be on mainnet ( ie Prime location in Big City ) and RAM is part of the cost.

hmmm I'd be interested to see what kind of valuation the market gives to future ram. I'd be willing to bet people will want a steep discount for doing this and then it can shut up all the crazy RAM is the real BTC / RAM is going to the moon clowns lol. Here is the direction I see: doubling the total supply of RAM from 64GB to 128GB in a year from now will increase the REMAINING RAM supply from 15-16GB now (with price at 0.26) to about 80GB, 5x, that will reduce RAM price by ~80% to 0.05-0.06 (all else equal). With overhanging continuous supply of RAM trickling and potential PRAM, RAM is almost guaranteed to be a depreciating asset in near future, not only it’s getting cheap, it will keep getting cheaper. Perversely, that could deter demand on RAM, even for some devs (as their investment in RAM will start to depreciate right away with continuous supply coming to the market). Dan @daniellarimer, curious your thoughts on impact of new supply dynamics on RAM demand? Also, how the network will be able to reallocate RAM resources efficiently- if RAM goes on depreciating trajectory, the low quality or out-dated dapps will have less incentive to sell out the ram they reserved if it meant a big loss.

Thanks for the recap, I am aware... thats not exactly what I meant. I guess we need better communication. The ram case has gotten so special, because there is a lot of different interests involved, I want the overall Ecosystem to involve, and the way things are done are important. It seriously seems like to me after dan got some beating in some channel he started to dance the chicken dance. ram is scarce atm, we need it to grow at affordable prices. I am pro ram market, all that whining from some devs doesn’t help, find alternatives. Dan is the leading influence and he knows how markets work, he has good solutions ( market solutions). All the fud spread also by dan, he should save himself. I guess we will find common ground to go forward. Good luck to us all !

RAM trading is 'speculating', not 'investing'. Nothing wrong with speculating...but you need to accept the risks. RAM speculation would hurt EOS investors (those of us holding for long term), so don't expect much sympathy here 😁

Most of what you're fudding/writing makes no sense. Wait a while for the first few mainstream usable Dapps to come online & then you will be in a position to say if EOS 'works' or not (and even then it will still be a work-in-progress). From what I see, on setramrate approval voting process conducted by EOS authority, most BPs got caught either in political show or operate under political pressure, there was apparently NO test run by BPs community, probably no coordination with Block.one at the moment of code updating to the network in case of some unexpected issues. In addition, while Dan @daniellarimer and B1 had code change ready, and proposed 1KB/block (a few weeks ago, he also mentioned a couple of hundred bytes per block), I see NO BP did any independent appraisal of what they think it’s the appropriate ram growth rate, and clearly lay out their rationale, and have public debates on their thoughts on RAM proposal. The community got too caught up in blaming ram price, and blaming speculators. As guardians of the network, the BPs showed no independent work nor conduct any test runs, very disappointing

Is the RAM down. Yes. Then is OK. There cant be an analysis of the unknown. Tweak it until it works. It works. So it’s ok. Dam ram traders, they are putting in jeopardy the whole ecosystem, cant you see that?

Let me understand this, a contract error not picked up has led to a bonus extra RAM allocation free to all token holders, increasing this capacity for all. The only people I can see complaining would be RAM speculators (not users of the actual RAM) who have presumably been burned for playing the market. Fair summary?

Not really.. just a great excuse and reason for bps to show off we didn’t mess up... imagine if it got bumped up by 10 Tb by this mistake... that would have been end for EOS and a reason to fork.. we just dogged a bullet.. this is just to remind all bps don’t follow herd and be stupid.. use your brain.. we want all bps to be independent not go by consensus by conference (CBW) and keep it DPOS

okay if you didnt register, then you need to use the "registration fallback method" https://eosauthority.com/blog/how_to_generate_your_EOS_fallback_key_from_ethereum_private_key because you use ledger it's a bit more challenging to get access to your ethereum private key, but it's 100% possible. i think via MEW for example. the way i understand it you have to enter your seed words in MEW to regenerate/replicate your ledger wallet there temporarily and then it'll allow you to export the ethereum private key you need.

Once you have your eos private/public key pair from the fallback registration you technically already 100% own your eos and could just do nothing for a while. If you search your new eos public key on e.g. bloks.io or eosflare.io you should see your account name and the tokens in your account. But if you want to test things and start using a wallet and do test transactions you could do that with e.g. Scatter, EOS-Voter by Greymass or SimplEOS.

Telos sounds like a great idea..... for the BPs to make a hell of a lot of money from the investers. It seems that way since they will have a big chunk of the supply and from what the video tells us from the RAM they provide also since they will be selling when the price is high. If I'm wrong on this then I would love for any of the BPs that are thinking of launching Telos to reply back regarding my concerns.

If I can’t get access to my active key, is there any way that I can change my keys with my Owner Key or atleast use my Owner Key to send my funds to an exchange? Eostoolkit isnt detecting Scatter and greymass says my active key is incorrect. So I only know my Owner Key.

It's probably not a problem with eostoolkit though if scatter isn't recognising your active key. How are you entering your active key? You can change your active key with your owner key. You can also transfer work your owner key.

yes, but you want to be using your active key for everything. owner key stays in cold storage until active key is compromised.

generate new key pair. hand-write the private key on paper and copy the public one to a temporary note. then go to the validation tool and paste in your public key and re-type in your private key from your hand-written copy just to make sure you haven't missed anything and can read back your own handwriting.

to change the owner private key you'll need to have scatter connected to the @owner authorization because only the owner key can change the owner key. if you just want to change your active key to a new one, do what I mentioned above and reset it using scatter connected to the toolkits. leave owner field BLANK if you don't intend to change it.

At present, this kind of secondary issuance is a naked exploitation. It is a hypocritical free market to talk about protecting personal wealth. What we feel is bm's irresponsibility.

I think we are also beating around bush... real problem is speculation of EOS token itself we are only blaming RAM speculators for nothing all EOS holders investors are speculators.. the token price is very high in my opinion raising RAM price... at the current state of EOS ecosystem the token price should be 0.01 $ . This will help reduce RAM price tremendously. Another update SETEOSRATE on similar lines of SETRAMRATE needs to be proposed and approved but I doubt anyone will approve it since all have EOS tokens unlike RAM...
