Renting is not a thing yet. The RAM is what is needed to perform certain tasks and operate on the blockchain. For example, for a developer to run their dapp on the EOS blockchain, they have to purchase RAM to allocate towards it's operations. Many lately have been speculating on RAM and trading, which has driven up the price. But at any time, elected block producers can increase the overall amount of ram, in turn decreasing the value.

I think it’s time to explain to common investor that RAM is and will be the real EOS. Initially I thought that this would be a small issue with good solution but as things are evolving and from my view there is no real great answer to this issue. So let’s embrace it and why only whales should benefit from all this. It’s is very clear that as EOS gets adopted by mass developers RAM will be the first thing to go up price wise. As it seems adding RAM and sidechains would be finite at some point, only best and rich dapps would be able to afford EOS. At that point the RAM would be saturated and no more RAM can be added, may happen say 10 years or so just a guess . It seems with current situation we all can see that even if 80% RAm is hoarded the price of EOS token doesn’t move it is and remains tied to BTC and will always be under influence of BTC. Say instead of speculators 80% RAM was been used by dapps that’s a huge actual demand but even with this we are seeing no movement in EOS token price. Isn’t that unreal? I think common investors have been fooled so far with the EOS tokens as real stake in EOS ecosystem. I think it’s time they need to know that EOS RAM is their real stake in EOS ecosystem - Natoshi

no, this is not proof of work, eos is delegated proof of stake. the delegates we vote for handle the transactions and get paid by the natural inflation of the system. you could try to become a block producer as well, but it requires a beefy machine and definitely some good marketing to get trust from the community

ram you own e.g. in your genesis account the 8kb is forever you, you dont pay any rent or something like that. you can choose to buy more ram at current market price, or sell some of your unused ram. typically you dont have to worry about that. depending on the dapps you use they will require more or less ram from you.

Because I am enthusiastic for EOS for these reasons: Mass adoption through dApps, which people are using like crazy. This is EOS for me. I never imagined, that EOS will be about RAM trading speculation. If this would be the main feature of EOS, I wouldn't be here, and I wouldn't buy any EOS.

So even though you did miss out on about 50 or so airdrops, you can still collect tokens from potenialy hundreds or more of the future projects whenever these new projects decide to airdrop their tokens. They will be responsible for taking a snapshot of the blockchain, so there's no set dates for snapshots to take place

You don’t swap them, they will be on the eos blockchain already. If you registered your Eth address, you’ll have your eos private address. Download greymass wallet and put your details in there and you’ll see your eos tokens already there.

i have an idea about ram ,that we should have a ram rental market instead of sale market. the rent should give to eos holders according to their eos numbers . because the white paper says if you hold 1%eos ,you will have 1%resaurces of eos system . i think a ram rental market is a good way to realize it. ram rental market can use bancor system to realize. this is also a good way to reduce dapp cost, they dont need to buy a lot of ram to open accounts for the users.if the dapp goes well ,they can keep renting ram, if not, they can avoid large losses .when a dapp or account can 't pay the rent ,the related ram will be released . i hope my suggest can be heard by eos community and bm.

To each his own. I've used it and think that it is pretty technical to set up for most especially in comparison to others. I prefer the others I mentioned.

That is just not true, crimes in major cities in Japan are pretty low. — My explaination for less crimes in smaller towns is that everybody usually knows each other and help each other out, in bigger cities that tend to happen less and also you feel less responsibility towards each other.

EOS isn't on MEW (ERC20) anymore. You have to create an EOS wallet and identity. You can make the keypairs with Scatter (get-scatter,com) and create your initial account with ZEOS (zeos,co) which will accept BTC, ETH, etc.

I feel that the majority of people new to the crypto have a ton of questions on airdrops, wallets, etc. For mass adoption of eos, I think a nicely produced tutorial explaining exactally how to buy, store, trade, view airdrops, etc would be cool. Maybe when block.one releases their wallet app they can do that? Right now the process (I have no problem with it) is daunting for most people.

I had this a few times yesterday, it seemed to be on a couple of occaisions that i didnt leave enough ram to make the transaction (as the others stated though sounds like you have that covered) and one time because i didnt have enough unstaked eos left in my wallet to cover the costs of the transaction as the fee is taken out of your wallet and not your trade fund, luckily i was awaiting some more to unstake imminently which then solved that problem for me. Probably not your problem but worth a check

Your ERC-20 tokens will never be un frozen, those were ethereum tokens, which are now useless. Use the Greymass wallet and your EOS Main net private keys to see your real EOS tokens.

I do have a question. Our DApp ThisOrThat.io is designed to allow any ERC20 token for the payout bounty. That way new projects can “airdrop” their tokens through the game. We just take a 5% cut of their tokens. We are running on Ethereum right now. If ThisOrThat is running on EOS, and other projects are posting their own tokens as the bounty, there shouldn’t be additional RAM costs for them since we initially created the user accounts, right?
