You don't have to do anything. The swap happened automatically. The EOS erc20 tokens are frozen and have been replaced with the EOS as they now exist on the EOS blockchain

I could be wrong but I think your staking YOUR ram allows your account the ability to perform certain operations, i.e. send, receive, vote, etc. But I think to have dapps operate on the network it's different. Which is the whole point of RAM.

Which is why you always have to have at least a certain amount staked. You can't fully unstake ALL of the EOS, because you have to leave something there to maintain your account on the network.

Because to unstake, it will take 3 days to have access to the unstaked EOS once the unstake command is given. So lets just say...a hacker gets into your account. If you notice that your EOS are unstaked before the end of the 3 day period...you can just restake them, resetting that 3 day period.

No they are not. Those are the EOS erc20 tokens in your MEW. Those are frozen and are now useless. You can't do anything with them. However, they have been replaced with the EOS that now exist on the EOS network.

The chain is literally 38 days old. B1 is not in charge of the chain. They can only offer solutions and the block producers can vote to approve them. They have offered solutions and suggestions. It takes time to come to consensus on major changes, and the myopic expectation of instant resolution is naive. IMHO, it reveals the complainer's lack of research and knowledge in this space. We all want a smooth running chain, but the expectation of instant gratification is unrealistic, and frankly would be dangerous to the chain if it were possible.

There will definitely be forks and sidechains, no doubt. But they will vary in the degree of decentralization. The EOS mainnet right now has achieved (at least from our perspective, maybe not in the perspective of old school bitcoin maximalists) a good degree of decentralization in how the mainnet was launched, how funds are allocated and how RAM is priced and divided. Any sidechain changing that will have to come up with a great model to compete there to say equally decentralized and thus trusted.

It doesnt cost any recurring upkeep, and especially not RAM (if you let users use their own RAM which is most of the time the right choice) for hosting smart contract owners. It's users that stake EOS to use cpu and net bandwidth to use any smart contract. And they typically also use their own RAM to store their data that the smart contract requires.

The issue is that all BPs (not just the top 21) share the same RAM, they all have a copy of the same RAM. So you're still limited to how much you can put into a single system. And you can't just have one BP with 2TB of RAM, it has to be everyone in the network. And then you don't want to set the RAM too high right away because it might limit how many people can afford to compete and run their own BP node.

I had tokens prior to launch so I had to import my private key. You may have to create a new wallet and follow the steps within the wallet your using. Scatter supposedly has a decent account creation although I have never used it. There are others though.

from what i understand, some BPs went down a few days ago (b/c of a misconfiguration), and missed block production.... and guess what? The standby's were there to do exactly what the chain intended and keep the action going seamlessly.

The EOS community has done an amazing job turning the EOSIO software into a working single chain network in a very short amount of time. Block.one is aggressively working on the next stage of the software’s evolution with the premise that token holders + block producers must scale into a highly competitive organisation with economic fundamentals. We’ll publish more information soon.
