It makes more sense this way to decouple cpu/bandwidth from the eos token. Otherwise the eos token would have to be “delegated" to a rent contract and to receive interest for unused bandwidth and cpu and can not be used for voting. If everything is decoupled, then eos tokens can be staked for voting and receive trading fees of ram, cpu and bandwidth as interest and you can also rent out unused cpu and bandwidth as well.

Damn, eos is hard

It's just young. There aren't push features from dApp developers yet. When things change we have to manually update or our experience is broken. Fixes for this will come in time. It's pretty neat to see robust little tools running a month in. But there is a lot that doesn't get built out when you push something to market so fast. We just need the polish that comes with time. Also... eos being a stable platform would help. It seems like every week we have Dan saying "oh what do you guys think of me changing the whole platform?" So I suppose we might be a bit better off had they thought this thing through a little better. At this point I'm wondering if they just whiteboarded the whole project and said "Good enough. Things will work themselves out" I mean... I guess being flexible is a good attribute. But the extent of block.ones' flexibility on core architecture doesn't pair well with trying to have a polished UI in an open source project.

wouldn't make sense for cpu to be bought and sold from the system. Otherwise it's like taking part of the eos utility away and giving you nothing back in return. Would have to give you cpu and bandwidth proportional to the amount of eos you own. At least that's how I see it happening if the idea gets implemented.

The benefits for a free market of resources outweigh the negative consequences. First and foremost because the fees of any trade would facilitate the security of the network by rewarding those who stake. This will help decentralization factors.

he does have a point even if he does not get the incentives. a free market has its downsides especially for development. Early stage development is extremely important for anything to grow substantionally. you have to make sure that the incentives are such to include these "newbies" . a free market..is not friendly to newbies.

A more simple solution, instead of ram,cpu,bandwidth token market . only two principles: who uses ,who pays;and who contributes ,who gains. users who delegate their eos to obtain those resources should be taxed for those resource they are using.for example,if total delegated eos is 0.1 billion,then all resouces will be distributed to these tokens equally.the price for these resources is :these delegated eos would be taxed 20% every year,it would be 0.02 billion eos per year.The tax is used to pay for BPs,and for other EOSs that didn't been delegated for resources , just for voting. Apparently there's a perception that introducing shorting makes the price go lower. I think it will just increase the percentage of RAM that is being traded (vs. used for its intended purpose), so it will have the opposite effect - will make a scarce resource even more scarce, at least for the ones who intend to actually use it...

it will likely reduce price as it introduce a way to profit from not holding ram. trade volume will shoot way up which is wonderful for fee collection but instead of manipulation via holding and selling we'll see manipulation via shorting and buying, so while yes sometimes we'll see higher prices we'd also see lower prices.

I don't know what system Dan plans, in the current one you can't lend ram though so I thought the ram account will lend all the ram you need for it. And the balance between longs and shorts should effectively nullify any harm from it while the introduction of them should affect real buys and sells in a reduction kind of way

After talking with the Bancor guys, I have concluded that we could further absorb demand for RAM without impacting current tech requirements by pre-selling RAM that is convertable to RAM at future date. For example we could sell 1TB convertable to RAM in 5 years. I call this PRAM. It will be a new market that will represent present demand to hold/hedge RAM that won't be needed for 5 years. As long as we can have very high confidence that in 5 years 1 TB of RAM will be viable then we can allow it to start trading now.

Usability wise, ETH has been around longer and more user friendly dapps have been created in that length of time. Blockchain functionality isn’t really that different. There are already great options that have user friendly UI for EOS just in this first month of being active, and there will be plenty more.

You need your eos private/public key pair generated in exodus wallet. Hopefully you registered your tokens before mainnet launched. If you need help exodus support team is excellent. Just be careful with private key. Then you can insert private key in new eos wallet like greymass to access your eos tokens.

Do I? If I own no eos and I want to develop and app. I buy some eos for one price, sell it for the exact same price 2 seconds later to get cpu.

Because you are converting EOS to CPU or bandwidth in the internal EOS system contract, it does not affect the overall market value of EOS. EOS will continue to hold its value irrespective of whether you flip it to CPU or bandwidth. You would need to have bought EOS in the open market to do this so what happens in the internal market becomes irrelevant to the price of EOS.

They are ERC 20 Tokens, those were only used for the snapshot to verify how many EOS you had. Those tokens are now frozen indefinitely.

I recommend trying anything new for the first time using a play account. Go to zeos.co and create a new account for messing around with. Then you can try changing keys and permissions and everything without worrying

I haven't used that one myself, but if it generates keys, you can use it to generate keys. Then you have to assign those keys to your account permissions. One public key paired with a private key for OWNER keys and again another private and public keypair for ACTIVE use. That's 2 pairs for each account.

Although,I think it’s likely that many holders on June 2 have now rotated out of EOS given that they think they’re “locked into” future airdrops. not to be rude man! ive asked a million times. kinda just sick of talking about it. Not sure how the funds were accessed. Never got them back. Binance never responded when I asked for help because funds were sent to a binance address. Just had to move on.

But then again, use of EOS is encouraged every 2 or 3 years I believe, so may not be the best candidate for an IRA/long term investment unless an exception can be made.
