And then go on to implement a solution that ensures RAM is only being purchased by dapp developers, with heavy penalties for market manipulation. I don't think Dapp developers NEED to buy RAm for future use. They can simply stockpile their assets in cash and purchase RAM on demand as required. I think that the BP's could put together a working group that reviews people/groups who claim to be dapp developers, and only allows them to maintain a stake in RAM if they show they are geneuinely developing on the network.

Yes. We have to remove RAM as a trading commodity for speculators and make it a resource for developers only.....here is the catch....if DAPP devs want the RAM they have to put EOS up as collateral and as time goes on and they are not using the RAM they starting losing their EOS collateral.

Earlier today, at approximately 00:00 UTC, Bancor experienced a security breach. We take this incident very seriously. We are committing every resource to resolving it, getting the network back online and tracking down the criminals involved. The details of the breach are still being investigated, but we wanted to update the community with the facts that we have so far. A wallet used to upgrade some smart contracts was compromised. This compromised wallet was then used to withdraw ETH from the BNT smart contract in the amount of 24,984 ETH (~$12.5M). The same wallet also stole: 229,356,645 NPXS (~$1M) 3,200,000 BNT (~$10M) Once the theft was identified, we were able to freeze the stolen BNT, limiting the damage to the Bancor ecosystem from the theft. The ability to freeze tokens was built into the Bancor Protocol to be used in an extreme situation to recover from a security breach, allowing Bancor to effectively stop the thief from running away with the stolen tokens. It is not possible to freeze the ETH or any other stolen tokens. However, we are now working together with dozens of cryptocurrency exchanges to trace the stolen funds and make it more difficult for the thief to liquidate them. We will continue to post updates as and when appropriate on our Telegram channel and on Twitter. We appreciate your patience as we resolve this matter.

Reasons I see for price drop (some valid, some not): RAM Trading makes it extremely prohibitive for dapps to build & EOS is meant to be extremely well suited for dapps on day one versus ethereum. Random BP's who dont care about EOS are buying votes and getting paid Neither Block One Nor any of the BP's have built a referendum portal or Worker Proposal Portal meaning the community can do virtually nothing to manage these problems

@daniellarimer I’ve been thinking about it a lot... Maybe EOS is missing the incentive for the average user to hold and stake their tokens. I think everyone deep down wants to feel like they are able to contribute in some way. The airdrops have been awesome, but post snapshot the newcomers don’t get a sense on being able to add value. I really like your idea of RAM fees being distributed to those who stake. Is there anything else that could be implemented for the average user to contribute? Maybe a way of Running different types of nodes that supplement BP efforts but aren’t as vital, or supporting smaller specialized sidechains, or even reward based tasks. I’m reflecting on some people’s views of EOS and which projects I’ve personally felt most connected to in the past. Even powering up in steemit gives the average user a sense of purpose in what they are doing. By no means am I trying to take away from the already incredible platform EOS has become... just thinking out loud. Thanks Dan

There have been ongoing discussions regarding it all. In another way this is the beginning of the chain and I imagine whales can't keep pushing their votes forever. Have to keep your tokens staked in order to keep weight on your vote. Then you have to recast to keep that weight going. I do believe the chain will act differently 6 to 12 months down the line when it's a little more mature. Who knows what other little algorithms are built into it.

I actually wouldn't doubt any of the current projects being developed on EOS. We have projects actually being worked on and usable currently. In the end they don't owe anything it was all revenue for block 1 from beginning, they had committed 1 billion dollars of that revenue publicly so they will no matter what pull through on that promise and they are incentivized to do a lot more for the network with the rest in due time

One thing I do know is Brendan does not like to come out with the type of empty marketing a lot of other projects do, and it is all signed and sealed deals such as vc funds. But yet a little concerning only 1 vc backed airdrop so far... Could be that there just isn't yet a solid enough project

stake based ram allocation makes no sense. you'd have people sitting on ram for no reason, and you can't use it like you can with surge net/cpu b/c you don't want state to randomly disapear
