the top 1000 EOS wallets hold 89% of the tokens. how the fuck are 15% of the tokens going to vote if exchanges don't participate?

15% will happen easy. Exchanges aren't stupid. They aren't going to vote with their billion dollar wallet so fast. I made 6 paper wallets for EOS and I've only voted with my smallest 5 EOS wallet so far. I will the rest as I gain more confidence. Exchanges are voting now too, but with test wallets gaining confidence and learning security.

When I bought EOS from B1, I read the terms of sales. It stated very clear that I will Not be getting any property, rights, products etc from them. It is important that b1 keeps it's promise to deliver nothing as claimed so that the SEC can get off its back. The team has certainly lived up to its claims so far. I am glad I picked EOS. Brilliant guy ... just wondering why he put in EOS but not allow us to use it to vote. Officially, EOS has 2 private keys as well and guess what ... one is for Voting. It is just that you can't use it yet. This is disabled so that you cannot use it to vote for the BPs to get 15%. Pretty clever.

Theres alot of tokens on exchanges. Im sure that has somthing to do with it.

As part of the registration process you had to get you EOS out of an exchange, into a wallet. It was a little scary but a great many did it. But did that many really leave it in an exchange with all the talk of register or lose it. There was much advice from exchanges that they would honour the swap for you. I find it incredible

Hey Shenron, based on your comments, just wanted to get your thoughts on the below: i completely agree that it's important for BP's to have dedicated hardware/connectivity to run, but don't you think that some of the smaller BPC's that want to get involved and assist with the de-centralisation may only be able to get started with a hosted platform such as Azure/AWS initially? Unless you are an individual/group that is already rich/already has an existing platform that will allow them to spin up nodes on the side, doesn't it just fall back on the rich leading the poor that the whole ethos of EOS is meant to achieve? it's only once voted in, or being able to receive some of the inflation rewards that those smaller guys would be able to invest/afford to run more state of the art solutions. So yes agree that their FUTURE plans should have dedicated systems, but that you shouldn't cast out the smaller teams that are reliant on hosted systems for the beginning platform that gets them into the race

With more than 80% of the current ABP on the cloud and most on AWS, this is a clear and present danger as it is a single point of failure. If SEC declares EOS as a security, AWS and other clouds will be forced by regulators to stop. This will cause the number of BPs to drop below the required threshold if there are no enough bare metals BPs. Those on hot standby would most likely be cheap cloud based as well. Pure metal anchors the security of the network and is an insurance against this.

Hi David, I completely understand that and ultimately agree that the core needs to be independently owned/run. All i'm suggesting is that some thought in the voting decisions should still be given to vetting some of the smaller startups that want to get involved. The smaller guys (my own BPC included) don't expect to be one of the core 21 BP's initially, but do still want to help generate change and enhance the community. We have plans for bare metal and independently owned infrastructure (which will be published on our site in the next few days/week once finalised). At the moment however it is a cost that is not a realistic gamble if there's no chance of getting high enough in the voting to actually gain rewards to reinvest and build that infrastructure up

do you not think that some or even most of the believers are also based on cloud at present? i'm sure there's more than 21 that are bare metal at present, but i can also be sure that no matter how friendly and inviting their words are, that they're just seeing this as another cash cow and happy to dump the initial small investment to run it so they can reap the rewards. yes they'll be voted out in the future after their promises turn out to be nothing but hot air, but you need to have a healthy balance of now and future. All i was getting at is that of the 30 votes, present cloud BPC's shouldn't be completely ruled out of the running (after they've been vetted).

If you hold EOS on Binance it's not your Private keys... So not your coins... So you can't vote Simple. You have to wait for Binance to give you permission to vote or create a tool or suggest voting for you.
