How has the network slowed down

I've tried to buy RAM at same time, every time I did buy ram before that via toolkit on genereos website, confirmations were almost instant, but at the moment of spam/account creation, transactions buy ram function lagged for about 2-3 minutes

If the chain is paused, how can a critical bug be exploited? I think in general patching things should be behind the scenes, but if the chain is paused, I think it'd be alright to share reasoning and fix with the community.

there should be single forum all in one place by every block producer to explain their position, to take stances on positions, and overall overview board of everything objective and subjective, not just missed blocks or censored transactions (which these freezes are) but also case #'s and arbitration choices

I don't think it affects the value of the token... For you to maintain "high" voting power you'll have to vote again. Either for the same BPs or a new set. Depending of course on your evaluation of how we'll they're working in the communities interests as promised...

Craig with all due respect. Did you basically say anyone who holds EOS should be using the tokens to build applications on & shouldn’t hold them for their OWN personal reasons aside from that?

EOS is a utility token. The intent of a utility token is to be of use for the network. Gaming the network by purchasing tokens and hoarding resources is BAD for the utility cost of the network. EOS can be purchased as an investment, but only if your purchase helps the network grow. If people hoard, thinking the utility cost will go up because they are making resources scarce, they are not HELPING the network, they're holding it hostage. The three year provision may be a way to discourage this. If someone wishes to purchase it as an investment, then there is no reason they wouldn't make those tokens available for lease, creating an income source for themselves while allowing the resources to be used productively. This would also avoid the three year provision.

I'm sure that Dan wants to use that money on dApps. He's not the flashy type man. He wants to change the world for the better and I'm sure that's what he plans use a lot of that money for

If someone wishes to purchase it as an investment, then there is no reason they wouldn't make those tokens available for lease, creating an income source for themselves while allowing the resources to be used productively. This would also avoid the three year provision.

Yeah that's a valid point that they couldn't forsee how much would be raised when they were setting the org structure (probably spring 2017 or earlier)... hopefully they'll consider this $1B as the first wave of funding, then use the lessons learned to create a second/third $1B wave

The description of the voting system is the most dreadfully wrong account I've read yet. I think I'll skip reading the article, but may perhaps read the actual peer review instead...

Nope, it is revenue for B.1 to be handled at their discretion. Which while not directly given to users is likely to be used to advance the network.

Nope. Its on a network. It's also not clear tha you have to unstake your tokens to rent them.. maybe someone can enlighten us on that. Of course, if that's the case, you would still maintain voting rights, and leasing would not entitle the leasee to vote with leased tokens.. which makes sense to me..

Probably not. A recent Unchained podcast had a guy from Chainalysis on who said 80% of all crypto transactions are via exchange wallets which means despite the advice to hold your own private keys, many don’t. It’s frustrating but I doubt most people care about Exchange withdrawals.

They're completely neglecting to consider the security features built into eos which make it easy for exchange to secure their stuff. Most importantly perhaps the ability to impose time delays on transactions. Also the ability to set up permissions and weightings with great precision and flexibility.

At this point in the game it seems to me like they're really reaching for something. They don't have anything real on EOS so they have to throw as much mud as they can to see what sticks to the wall. I find it hard to believe that a governance blockchain is going to be somehow harder to secure then the likes of something like Bitcoin or even Monero.

If you own the private key (which you do with Exodus) you get airdrops, you can export the private key at any time and sign into any wallet if Exodus takes too long.

The whole point is to salvage the tokens in the case that someone DIES and takes their private key to the grave. If you do literally ANYTHING like unstake one token and restake it. Your account will not be considered inactive.
