Have you made any outgoing transactions from the address where your eos tokens are? And do you have your mnemonic seed phrase from when you setup your ledger? If yes and yes, then you can derive your ethereum private key and use the fallback to access your eos account. I can assist.

Scatter is working on a backup plan for those who didn’t register. The best thing is to wait on the launch and keep up to date with the block producers. Don’t do anything crazy like give out your keys in a panic. Remember scams will be rampant at the moment so take your time and follow reputable sources for what to do when those tools are available. Hello everyone ! Sorry if it has already been answered but I'm a bit confused with all of these. I participated for the first time to the EOS distribution last Thursday night. I followed the procedure with Metamask and sent the ETH to the proper address. Next day on the EOS distribution webpage I saw that I had some unclaimed ETH. I wanted to take care of it during this weekend but it was too late. Based on what I read in the channel, I should have registered at least a key in order to recover the unclaimed EOS ? Unfortunately I didn’t register any key, so do you think I lost all my EOS ? Thanks a lot for your answer !

Good. The process will involve using a bip39 tool to to derive your ethereum private key from your mnemonic seed. Then you can use the fallback to generate your eos private key to access your eos account. Be aware that there are extreme security risks when working with private keys, so you need to be careful and PM me if you need step-by-step help. As applications come on board in a month or later they will have to take a new snapshot since the genesis block snapshot ownership will have changed. Basically you will get airdrops if you own EOS and a dapp does an airdrop at that point.

EOS is still trading, you just can’t withdraw until the swap. Exchanges use a placeholder for your balances and they only go onto the block chain when you withdraw. This allows then to continue trading and why they stopped withdraws for now.

What are these tokens? Scam?

It was placed their using an exploit on etherscan. Basically exactly like spam e-mail. But I’m this situation the idea would be that an individual sees the token and looks it up, in turn generating traffic to their website. Just another form of creative advertising.

To do it securely you should consider moving everything other than eos out of the address. The following would be a relatively secure way to get your key. Download a bip39 tool to a usb stick. Then boot an operating system from removable media, without installing it, and with the device unnetworked. Then use the bip39 tool to derive your ethereum private key from your ledger's mnemonic seed. Record the private key in a secure manner - this is what you need to be able to use the fallback. If this is too much hassle and the value of your eos isn't substantial, you could just disconnect from the internet as you use the tool. It's your decision. If you need assistance we could do it step-by-step in PM when I've more time.

Exchanges use a placeholder for your balance. They only go onto the blockchain once you withdraw your balance. This allows then to continue trading and is why they stopped withdraws for EOS on the site until the swap.

True. Exchanges have there own wallet that they have registered. Once you make a withdraw it basically gets moved from their wallet to yours so when the swap happens they’ll get it and give you your balance when you withdraw.

Some is rich people that invested a lot, created a pressure for the price to grow (this is not necessarily good, but being top5 is good for the image of EOS community), and is committed to the project. Moreover, you may create a decentralized autonomous community on the EOS blockchain, and test other systems, for example a coin where each person has 1 vote.

there are already exchanges that announced supporting an internal voting portal for their customers. going forward you should probably not hold your tokens on exchanges that dont support it.

Bitfinex is already in a very good relationship with Block.one. They can transfer their tokens to addresses that are not registered as exchange addresses. And they can vote for themselves since they are also candidate for block producers. Do you really call that a decentralized ecosystem? I am a littlebit shocked about it.

the blockchain is transparent so moving tokens like that can be observed with a professional analysis. good luck trying, at some point you will probably be exposed. in any way, i would wait for some professional analysis on the topic of token and power distribution before jumping to conspiracy theories. eos did everything it could to spread out the tokens as much as possible in a year.

no, its too late to register if they havent been registered yet. but dont fret, even if you missed the registration its highly likely in a few weeks/months a tool will be available to "register late" and still claim your native eos tokens
