Staking is more secure, they are frozen for 3 days after unstaking, so if you notice unauthorized transactions, you have a 3 day window to figure out what to do

lots of half knowledge passed around there. it's all good. they have found a good solution. no one did anything fundamentally wrong really. just no good official process was in place and bps like eosny asked to ensure an official process first before committing to changing the blockchain.

At the very least revote and throw that vote to another BP that is deserving EOS Tribe, HKEOS, or EOSphere are way underated BPs. Then allowing time for compliance before kicking a BP would be the next course of action which would be community initiated.

Hi Sandwich, I like many others that are fairly new to all of this (only 3 solid months researching crypto) would like to feel safe with our investments as it’s the Wild West out there at this point in time as your aware. Some of us are not as clued in to all of this and/or not watching everything all day everyday. If your not fully paying attention you could be scammed out of your funds when your least expecting it. I have MEW as a wallet and a Trezor, not saying they are the best but reasonable track records in the way of security of funds. I now need an EOS wallet and I can’t help feeling (personally) it’s a bit too early to jump onto the first one or two that have arrived on the scene, especially when in these early days even some dapps and/or people airdropping tokens have already appeared shady within the community...know what I’m saying? Just my feeling that’s all. Maybe I’m wrong.. I am just as excited as most on the EOS train... just being careful.

If there's no mention of fallback on eosauthority then you just use your eos private key which you generated for registration. If you registered though you should get your eos public key returned when you use the 'keys' function with your ethereum address. I suspect you didn't use the function correctly. You can send me your ethereum address and I'll check, but I'm back to work in two minutes.

Stake and delegate are the same thing. Unstake = undelegate.

I suppose the apps are just a bit messy. There is an undelegate message on eosflare but no stake message (i unstaked by mistake). Yet on top of the page I now see that the full amount is staked (as i intended, for voting) At the same time SimplEOS history reports the stake message.

Aravind you vote should remain staked to be counted as a vote, once you un-stake that will mean no votes. Bandwidth and CPU are allocated on a fractional reserve basis, so your stake without any usage won't clog the network.

If you registered properly, you don't have to transfer anything, the old erc20 EOS tokens will remain on your eth wallet and the new EOS token is already attached to the EOS private key you created while registering. If you lost your EOS private key, use Scatter to generate it from your registered eth private key.

The EOS on MEW are ERC20 tokens which were used just for the snapshot to verify how many EOS you had. Those tokens are frozen forever. You are now able to access your native EOS from an EOS wallet using the EOS keys you got from registering. Many BPs and community members have recommended EOS Voter by greymass as an EOS wallet to use. So to clarify, your EOS ERC20 tokens on MEW is what is frozen, not your native EOS.

Perhaps a periodic auto benchmark (per hour or few hours) could be perform on a random BP, which will set and update a cap on the BP reward they are able to receive; imposed on top of the vote-based rewards. A list of the benchmark score and breakdown also could then be made avail. to voters. + BPs with a equipment benchmark score of zero will have 0% * vote-based-rewards. + BPs with less then ideal equipment benchmark score will only receive fractional rewards. + Core and Standby BPs that exceeds their equipment benchmark scores could potentially have their rewards multiplied by a factor depending on what is taken away from the underperforming BPs. I wonder if grassroots BP's will band together to create stronger BP teams right now, there are some decent teams out of the 21, it would be interesting to see a move like that - I haven't heard of any teams doing that or considering it. But it would seem they could be stronger, also if the voters stay with the BP's, the summation of their votes my give them enough leverage to break into the 21. There are some smaller voter reinforcements comming everyday to vote for the smaller BP's, so this will help too

where can I find info about if the BP have datacenters or just good pcs? I mean I get very low computational resources for my EOS, so i infer that there are n o datacenters, but just some decent computers run by the BP. It's a little bit dissapointing on how much resources you get for your EOS. There are clearly some BP in who have just a small operation, but nothing that can be considered a datacenter.

What if in the unlikely case that the top 21 BPs decides to revote as one, or if they all managed to get hacked somehow? Can people still shift their votes? Or is there already an algorithm in place to allow the next top standby BPs to automatically kick in the moment that other BPs are detected as non-responsive or blacklisting transactions, etc? Or will EOS grind to a halt with nobody being able to change votes with non of the top 21 BPs processing transactions?
