Yes, but I don't recommend segmentation because nodes are not equal to political issues. Chinese nodes have very strong financial resources because of capital contributions. I suggest that everyone should strive to make the nodes sufficiently dispersed according to changes in voting, especially for different countries. The election is the best.

Why is eos portal .io not HTTPS

I can't speak for EOSportal but this is true for us as well (LiquidEOS) The API that loads the BPs from the net is only http, so to avoid any browser errors, we load the voting portal in http as well. For safety, we created a standalone application for easier voting. The downloadable app is a wrapper for a static HTML page to ensure protection of your private key from browser extensions and man-in-the-middle attacks.

You can use https there. It doesn't work properly though (with scatter at least) for technical reasons. It's not really necessary to use https if you're using scatter to sign the transaction though, so long as you check what you're signing.

The lack of early voting is strategy related. We will increase votes exponentially. Big holders are waiting to see how others vote. If they don't need to vote on themselves or their choice BP because others already are they can leverage their votes to other candidates. As it gets closer to 15% and candidates are on the bubble we will see votes flood in very quickly

There are some projects, but their goal is to connect everything with everything, for example Cosmos, Wanchain, Polkadot ... But now there is one in particular called Bitone Network that is in the pre-sale phase, although I think it will be difficult to enter that phase, and this project in particular if it will allow to connect smart contract of other chains with bitcoin. I personally know the guys at EOSTride, BlockSmith, and EOS Detroit - they all seemed pretty legit. I also like those organizations who have done a lot of education or builing apps to help the community (eosportal.io was designed by one of the EOS Tribe owners)
