Gavin: Malicious acts against our community are the only thing I can think of that would warrant that... I proposed a much better solution above and asked for feedback but have been completely ignored regarding it. Basically, I think it would be much better to "donate" them to a temporary "charity" pool so that dApp developers with no stake in EOS for bandwidth and little start up capital can still create an app that is free to use and doesn't require the user to hold EOS. Then if the person who didn't vote or family member wakes up they can reclaim their tokens. This way there is always a community pool of bandwidth for free that encourages budding developers to build on our ecosystem. This solves the problems of confiscation and wasting resources while simutaneously encouraging more developers to be a part our community too.

This is a really interesting idea. Not certain about the coding aspects to do this but I like this. We're writing an article about all the Constitution Articles right now. With your permission, could I quote portions and credit you for this idea?

I was heavily involved in much of the debate about this. I agree staking to a community account where dApps can be brought to market by devs would be great. There are test nets they can already test on, but this would allow a proof of concept style roll out prior to them having the funds to stake for their own dApp

Could also use the voting mechanisms to vote for the best indie DAPPs and a portion of the community stake could goto the project. Then after a vesting period and as the indie dapp makes enough to stake real EOS it could go back to the community pool or be distributed amongst the voters (to incentivize voting)

Eos wallet doesn’t exist yet. Your tokens are still locked. Wait until network is unlocked and launched then you should be able to claim your tokens in an eos wallet

There's still critical bigs to be found in any software. Any smart contract platform will eventually have a very serious contract breaking bug. Won't affect the main chain in most cases. At least with EOS we have recourse through arbitration.

Straw man argument based on wild assumptions. When people buy tether, it's printed. If they buy wkth USD, it's backed by USD. If they buy with a token, that token is sold immediately for USD It's fully backed. When the tether is sold back to the exchange (bitfinex), they give back the USD and burn the tether If it's sold for tokens, the USD is used to buy the tokens and the tether is burned... I was suffering from FUD like many of the EOS supporters over the voting process but found it very easy with the grey mass app. I just had to spen a few hours researching it to feel safe committing to the process. The rate of voting is also speeding up as time goes on. It’s a lot to ask, but my research made me feel like participating was worth the effort. It will take some time to get the entire community on board with the process, but despite my whining on telegram I felt like it was worth the effort after I learned the process. I also think it will create a strong community after the process is complete. I now know who the block producers are and why I supported my picks. Oh okay, so the votes need to be staked to a BP to hold the value of the vote... But to get someone new in, would they not need 15% of the votes still? Thats already hard to get as of now...

I've already voted. I just know that reaching 15% of a group of people that took a year to gather up and then add in the confusion of registration etc etc... Voting isn't gonna happen in a day or a week. Unless a whale or exchange or b1 takes it upon themselves we are waiting and that's healthy for the governance of the system. No rush
