Correct, the owners provided their private keys to prove it is their account. I am not saying this action is bad, but the ECAF needs to be decentralized. We need a decentralized arbitration system for the long term.

The process should be done in an open transparent manner, i mean if someone was to make a private purchase of eth for EOS or whatever, and the seller decides to run to ecaf to cry wolf, how does ecafs secret process determine the sellers claims are legit or not, they need to disclose whats going on, we need to know if they're doing this right or not

The arbitrators decision, seems to me, was the right one. It was a constitutional issue because the constitution includes the protection of owner accounts. I don't see an immediate problem. Do you agree?

the way it normally works is actions of block producers have delayed effects (of like 30 days) and voters have time to react. if voters never see the proof shown to block producers to do some action like censorship or whatever else and no clear review period to read through that data, it breaks the model completely as zero % of governance should rely on trust in block producers. everything relies on verifying

There is a recomended BP voting structure, posted by Tokenika, that if put to practice would spread the BPs out across to a more even distribution. But even then, enforcing that concept has the implications of having too much power as well.

This concept in theory sounds decent, but think about this - Let's say at this moment we have the best operable 21 BPs elected, then at the end of their elected term, the next 21 move in. What if that next batch of 21 didn't have the production qualities as the previous. It could have significant complications to the blockchain as a whole. In addition, you would more than likely just end up with just two different sets of 21 alternating after each term.

We as a community have the responsibility to pay attention to the actions of these BPs, if one is acting out or is unsatisfactory, then we vote them out. Votes are updated every 2 minutes.

Well we couldn't 'vote out' Bitfinex. But we could be responsible as a community and not leave EOS in the exchange unless we plan to trade it. By leaving it in the exchange we give Bitfinex the power to put themselves in that position. They are doing nothing wrong by doing that either. They are essentially just another wallet with a bunch of EOS, and a wallet with EOS, has the right to a vote.

Only if they keep "continued" control over all public keys. To vote, the eos must be staked. You can't use owner accounts for voting purposes if the eos isn't staked.

Hmm...Bitfinex is only 30 mil votes ahead to stay in the top 21. The next 27 BPs AFTER the 21st all have over 10mil. So if faith is lost in any of those and the votes are transferred to one of the other main BPs other than Bitfinex....I dunno....It could happen.

Hey guys, I am just testing the greymas wallet. However, I am confused a bit. I transfered some EOS to the greymas wallet, and now it is somehow staking. For any reason I cannot transfer the amount to another wallet. I treid to set the staking coins to "0" in the menu "update staking coins", but then it says "Any EOS unstaked from either Bandwidth or CPU will be unavailable for 3 days. 27 accounts requested their accounts to be frozen. They submitted their ownership proof of those accounts (keys). The BP's refused to freeze the accounts. The arbitrator over-ruled the BP's and safeguarded those accounts because propper proof of ownership was sufficient.

Deposit and Withdrawal for EOS will be suspended during the mainnet swap and will open again once we deem the mainnet to be stable. This is the answer. U can only trade with eos that u have left on binance :)

Is anyone else having dramas trying to claim your EOS tokens? It has been impossible for me to open an SimplEOS wallet - had some help checking my public and private keys are linked - but there is some issue with the public key and a patch is being developed - in the meantime the airdrops continue without me. This is the first time I have ever hit a roadblock with anything - I am just about to cut my losses - you can not spend so much time getting nowhere.

The reason EOS's "democracy" won't work is because people are too retarded to vote right and the votes are done by whales anyway so it's useless. Sort of like US democracy hmm... really makes you think.

So your alternative is governance off chain like eth and btc. Bitcoin core, Viitalik, and Ethereum foundation. With them there is no discussion of what is fair, instead they decide amongst themselves for the rest of plebes and we have no say. We march to their drum beat. When you take this into consideration eos is the better option unless you like sweeping the dirt under the rug like those chains do. There offchain governance is centralized and opaque to the core.

I think that is a bad idea . We have already seen how whales have manipulated themselves into positions of power on eos . Look at all the fake bp and exchanges in top 30. What is to prevent a whale from voting in an arbitrator who will allow the whale to get away with any type of crime . I would feel better if they were appointed by a totally seperate group or hired so that whales and bp could not collude to control them

You will see that voting only makes part of what I suggested.. the randomize selection process would reduce odds drastically of a specific one used for a certain type of action while the reputation scoring I mentioned is our onchain background check as you referred too.. odds of whale votes having real influences in that scenario are reduced I believe

Well, the realities of this are playing out. You don't have to prove your case... we can all see the carnage. Your worries are being displayed in real time. Maybe if we had more of these discussions a few months ago, we'd be in a better spot right now. So I had my EOS in exodus wallet. I missed the deadline to regristrer my adress and now my EOS were frozen in my erc20 wallet(eth). So i did all the procedures and now got a 'name' and a 'key' for the mainnet . My question is, how can I now transfer my frozen coins in exodus to example, binance exchange , or a new wallet ???

Probably because you need to input you public ETH key to view your old frozen erc20 eos tokens, not the EOS mainnet public key which is different.

There isn’t. Do your research. The reason was also released, you’re only seeing half of the documentation. Making it appear that there is censorship. Not the case. There were some accounts that were victimized via phishing, the owners verified their ownership via private keys, and the accounts were frozen to help eliminate further damage.

Imagine if it were an exploit found in the code - you wouldn’t want that exploit made aware until it was fixed. Don’t be afraid of the unknown and done speculate. That just causes fear and fud.

I don't think flare shows them. You might be able to see a transaction on your account that took place this morning. It was for 2 ADD tokens for each eos held, but the number of tokens is not shown.
