Even an action like unstaking your tokens requires you to have 5 tokens staked to cpu and 5 to ram . How much tokens would runninn an app require for staking ? I think a lot of eos tokens will be perpetually staked to run the network or am I not understanding ?

Your best bet is to sit tight and wait till it is clear which wallet is the safest to use to before you try and access your eos if you are not very technical savvy..there is no rush currently to do anything until it is very clear from multiple sources which wallets are safe and easy to use for non techie people..you will get all the airdrops that come while you are sitting tight..this might mean waiting 2-4 weeks just to be safe.. that is what I am doing

Gavin: Gavin: Malicious acts against our community are the only thing I can think of that would warrant that... I proposed a much better solution above and asked for feedback but have been completely ignored regarding it. Basically, I think it would be much better to "donate" them to a temporary "charity" pool so that dApp developers with no stake in EOS for bandwidth and little start up capital can still create an app that is free to use and doesn't require the user to hold EOS. Basically borrowing the couch / bandwidth. Then if the person who didn't vote or family member wakes up they can reclaim their tokens with private keys by voting. This way there is always a community pool of bandwidth for free that encourages budding developers to build on our ecosystem. This solves the problems of confiscation and wasting resources while simutaneously encouraging more developers to be a part our community too. We can also move to pool sooner than 3 years reducing even more waste of resources. We can vote as community what dApp deserves what % of the bandwidth or even vote to use it to supplement whole network in peak times.

21 main nodes that actively produce blocks. they can change every 2 minutes if the votes change. but there's also over 100 standby producers that can come in at any time if one of the 21 dont work properly or get voted out. those standby producers also typically provide endpoints for the community to ask about the state of the blockchain.
