So I bought EOS on Binance, then I set up a new wallet on MEW just for EOS. I then withdrew EOS from Binance to my MEW wallet address. Somehow I either misplaced the private key or stupidly never wrote it down in the first place. The address I registered for the new EOS blockchain is affiliated with my Ledger Nano S bc I wanted to transfer my EOS from my MEW to cold storage, but I never could send it bc I don’t have the private key for the MEW wallet

Why wasn't the account name the same as the one you are campaigning on, GenerEOS. Seems so many BPs are also in the same boat as you. It is causing unnessesary confusion. I reccommend it is changed as quickly as possible on all voting interfaces.

Problem is the top 10 addresses [exchanges and whales] hold 70% of the coin....if they don't vote, then that means we'd have to get almost 50% of the low-lying fruit holders like us to vote and risk their coin [spoofing, phishing, etc.] in order to activate the coin.....50% is not gonna happen...we need some of these big holders to vote....so i'm more curious as to WHY the exchanges/whales are NOT voting...they know it would only take a handful of them to vote in order to get this activated, but yet they hold off...these exchanges have very technical people working for them so the excuse of not knowing how to use CLEOS doesn't fly....it's a choice these exchanges/whales are making and i don't think it's coincidental....esp. during a time when we see an "unexpected" market crash of this level based on no bad news....these whales will only shake out weak hands with their deliberate withholding back of voting and i'm sure stack up nicely for themselves

it's actually 15% of total tokens [150mil] but since the top 10 addresses are exchanges and whales who hold 70% of the total supply....they don't seem to be too interested in voting right now....so now you're left with the little guys like us who have to risk getting up to that 150mil mark...that would take roughly half of the non big-boys.....and i'm sorry, without a cold wallet and suspect 3rd party apps that recognize users sometimes and not other times, i'll hold off

From Exodus support : I should note, Mr that it is not Exodus that froze these ERC20 EOS tokens. It is block.one themselves, the company that created EOS, that froze them while the mainnet transition is being made. This is out of our hands, I'm afraid :( Furthermore, what is being traded on centralized exchanges like Binance right now is not "real" EOS. There is no EOS to trade at present, as all ERC20 EOS are now frozen and there is no mainnet token that exists right now. You can verify this here: https://status,producer.vote What these exchanges are trading is actually off-chain EOS futures that cannot be withdrawn. Because the EOS mainnet has not been launched yet, there is nowhere to withdraw them :) So these exchanges are effectively trading the future promise of EOS. Another issue is the centralization that occurs with proof of work protocols. With the rise of ASIC mining chips, new miners have effectively been shut out of the ecosystem, leaving mining in the hands of an increasingly small number of miners or organizations. This brought rise to the notion of Delegated Proof of Stake. In the traditional Proof of Stake implementation users are rewarded for holding coins with additional coins. In Delegated Proof of Stake we see the same mechanism, but it also adds a governance layer where users are permitted to delegate their stake to others. This allows for the election of Witnesses, who serve to verify transactions, create blocks, and broadcast those blocks to the network. Witnesses are rewarded for their service with additional Bitshares from the reserves pool. In this system, 1 Bitshare is equal to 1 vote. With most users holding marginal amounts of Bitshares, the voting process can be considered burdensome. Most users wouldn’t even bother to use their votes. This led to the rise of proxy voting, whereby votes can be delegated to others. One of the primary problems being solved by Bitshares is the risk that is inherent in centralized exchanges.
