You need to have your eos account name and private key. Greymass will encrypt it to keep it safe. It also connects to an https so all data is encrypted.

Etherscan wont ask for your private key. But if you want to access your wallet then you need to provide your private key. Unless you dont want to spend it for life. But are you 100% sure you have a working private key for your eos? You can also know it works by voting. If you can vote then its working good. Use greymass for safe and simple wallet. Private key is encrypted

I don't believe Binance has developed a voting tool for their users. You should ask them point blank about that. They really should. Bitfinex and Huobi did. Bitfinex's is open source, too. Binance could use it as a cheat sheet.

That's ridiculous, there is a place for cloud in this game, and should be considered as redundancy. Most cloud based initially have explicit roadmaps to bare metal in less than 3 months. The nascient network will not require heavy bare metal investment off the get go.

I don't think 51 will end up being on AWS. As someone said before, most of China is metal or mixed and when they vote I expect 12-15 Chinese BP in top 21.

Yeah, can you confirm that most of the Asian markets tend to exchange hold? Like I heard Korea didn't allow withdrawals until late last year to personal wallets. I'd imagine the Chinese market might be similar.

There are at least a dozen voting portals, but Scatter is as vetted as any of them. The other top popular ones are Greymass and Libertyblock. EOScafe has a pretty simple one. All of the voting portals are from familiar Block Producer Candidates. I'm comfortable with about 5 of them because I know the BPCs over the past year.

If I had to be on it, I'd say they'll eventually be a Block Producer, maybe not in the earliest voting rounds, but my bet is their C-Suite has some serious voting weight.

I guess the idea is that the community needs consensus on the validity of the chain. If the chain didn't have the distribution lack of voting would prevent it from being accepted.

That’s the rule that was created. This is good to give the community time to vote. We must do homework. As you can see there’s a lot of BP’s in the top 21 that do not have there own Hardware. They are using cloud base services. Some are starting with cloud services and moving to bare metal on a later date. That’s a NO GO for me personally.

Yes, Absolutely. And Thanks. However, while that is easy to show (trust the EOS blockchain) and I mean this respectfully of course, the entire point of cryptocurrencies is to give power back to the individual. If the idea the individual is backing gets hijacked, they don't just give up on that token, coin or company, they give up on crypto as a whole. Each one we lose tells friends. And so on and so on. Only saying this as a loud want in this space, for "easily seen transparency" not just transparency for the few who understand it or have an hour (and patience, and brainpower) to see for themselves. They figure they already did their work for the week. They really shouldn't have to work again to keep it.

There's no end time for new block producers to enter the system. Votes are easily changeable and BPCs can get ejected for failing to write blocks at their time or not meeting minimum acceptable system resources.

Yea that's block.one. you are going to have to ask around in the coming weeks. There is or will be a way to reclaim your EOS, but I don't think the means are available yet. I recommend asking (direct messaging) sandwich he's an admin in here and works for block.one

I think diversity among producers is a good thing. Having some using cloud services is arguably better. The ability to attack "real metal" in a a few physical locations is probably greater, much greater, than Google Cloud or AWS being taken down.
