Snapshot already happened, when main net is up and running you will be able to withdraw your eos tokens. You do not have to worry about token swapping, registering, etc anymore.

if you bought on an exchange, you will be fine too, as the exchange will do the swap and when you withdraw these will be native eos tokens - if you bought before the freeze and hold them in mew without having registered them, then you will have to google fallback procedure eos and do that - cheers

the official wallet is a command line tool called cleos which is hard to use for people that aren't used to linux etc, there are wallets around, the one I am using is scatter, which is alike metamask, they also have a telegram channel with 1600 users, so ok for early days.

it's a bit like voting in real life, you don't have to - but it is important if you care for the system. there's no financial reward as it's provided in other systems (i.e. decred) - your eos are frozen for three days if you vote, which is less than in other systems as well. :)

thats not means you are not getting your mainnet eos token, let me clarify things for you, snapshot taken on blcokchain, trading in exchange not related about blockchain, its bettwen binance accounts and not written in chain. when you try to deposit or withdraw, its related with block chain and now you cant do that until new chain is up (mainnet)

The plot was simple, some anonymous online scammers had hacked into the system of Block.one, and scammers sent messages to the investors of EOS. The details of the investors were breached by the hackers and this information was used to steal EOS [EOS] and Ethereum [ETH] tokens from the investors. The Hackers had hacked the email support system of Block.one which was operated by cloud software provider called as Zendesk [ZEN]. Block.one temporarily terminated their Zendesk system due to the unfortunate situation. Block.one is the parent company on EOS ICO, which is raising $4 Billion for the development of their new blockchain software. The sale of EOS tokens has begun almost a year ago, and the sale ends today. In a year Block.one has sold one more than one billion EOS tokens to various investors. The hackers had sent emails to the investors, the mail has a hyperlink which takes to the Hacker’s website with a domain name of “https://xn--es-8bb.com” which web browsers would translate to eȯs.com. The website asked the users to enter their private key to unlock their wallets to get the free tokens. The hackers used this private key to take all the tokens from the investors. The cyber-thief or thieves, which is uncertain at this time, has stolen EOS and ETH tokens from investors. The hackers capitalized on the information they obtained to their advantage. The scammers pretended to provide free tokens as part of a giveaway. The investors were looking forward to getting free EOS and ETH tokens, instead, the hackers stole the coins that they had. The investors lost millions of dollars. Sofia, a Reddit user said that: “I have lost around $45,000 worth of EOS tokens from my wallet, I hope the justice would be served.”

Would that mean that purchasing EOS itself is legal, but ICO Airdrop illigal?

TL;DR: When checking your account on the EOS Mainnet when it is officially made available to the community be sure to add up your EOS balance, your Network stake, and your CPU stake. These three values will equal your total EOS holdings prior to the migration.

1)They are not illegal, but have a huge gray area. Since the SEC cannot protect investors, it would have many issues with its policies. This is why US citizens were not able to buy EOS on the EOS.io website

They're not tokens, exchanges are off chain so it's just a list of who own what within their servers. When the main net launches the music stops and they'll just swap the IOU for the erc20 token for an IOU for the main net token

Software is open sourced, everyone may play with it, but community should be aware that all chains share same keys, exposing private keys on one chain is exposing on all of chains (thus beware of scams)

No, eosDAC is currently ERC-20 and will be transitioning over to EOS after mainnet launch. If you transfer it to one of the exchanges that support eosDAC you can trade it now for example.

no, the erc20 eos tokens (behave like IOUs) are frozen, you can trade them at the exchange but not withdraw them - exchanges at some point will replace your erc20 eos balance with eos native tokens.
